Can someone tell me why my $800 umnitza headlights are doing this?

Had them for about 3 months now and about a month ago it started fogging up and thought no big deal maybe it was just a one time coincidence... And today (raining heavily) it started again.... It is only the drivers side too. On top of that the drivers side auto leveling doesn't work but that doesn't bother me too much. It just seems like the drivers side has all the problems.

+1 on a seal failure.

It could be either or both. I would start by removing the assembly, stripping it down and baking it for 15 min or so at al least 120°C to dry it out. Reassemble the lamp and apply a light (weight) grease (dielectric or petroleum jelly) to all of the bulb seals. remount the assembly and watch for moisture intrusion.

Fixed. This is 'Merica

In all reality, do what AGM5 said, I had to do this on my M.

Good you got the fix.

I just want to note that a main seal could cause condensation, but another cause (just not in your case) with headlights is the vent holes are blocked and not properly equalizing. Many do not realize that you can not have a 100% sealed headlamp or else this could happen. The vent holes typically have rubber tubes or elbows on them that equalize internal to external humidity and pressure which reduce risk of condensation.

Just a bad seal, which has been addressed by the others.

Not for the life of me I can understand why eveyone will pay 800 for these rebranded Chinese made copies that are being made at the same factories that the ebay versions are made at.

The only differences are the final branding (aka name on box) and the huge markup.

When it's mentioned the "seal", is it referring to the goop that brings/maintains the lens and the housing together? I've taken mine apart twice and I don't recall a specific rubber seal (like a gasket), just a lot of sticky black stuff that holds them together.

There is the eurthane between the lens and bezel, the black rubber seals behind the high and main beam lights and o-rings on the side and turn lamps. Failure of any one ofthese will permit moisture intrusion.
