It's not surprising that it fits, given that the S65 and S85 are very similar engines
Referring to the DCT box fitting the E30 shell.

Looks like I will not have to cut up the tunnel as I had feared.

Do you really think they are going to show a screen shot of this. And even if they did it will not show much if they done some magic behind the scenes like a combi box or something. It is their secrets and will stay that way as long as possible,

Oh come on, that screen won't reveal any secrets. All it is is a simple listing of the modules connected to the car's data busses. It would show us that there is indeed an E60 M5 with a DCT module installed. It takes all of 30 seconds to get to that screen too.

If your such an expert at BMW electronics how come you have not figured out the DCT swap already? The electronics part is the hardest, the mechanical is easy.
Who says they have installed a DCT module, maybe they hacked the SMG.

I haven't really tried to figure it out. My disassembly efforts have largely been focused on other DMEs.

DCT transmission has the module integrated into its "mechatronics" (basically the hydraulics and electronics are a single unit). You're not going to be running that off an SMG computer. And the logic for controlling the two transmissions is so different it's not even worth imagining the possibility of using the SMG computer to run it.

In any case, the "fact" that they ran into trouble with the paddle shifters indicates that they are indeed using the actual DCT computer since the DCT cars control the paddles differently than SMG.

Amazing. All we needed was Euro SMG and none of tthis elaborate hoax would have been necessary.

Surely you have video of this, unsubstantiated claims are obviously not allowed here.
In fairness, I don't know if that's an SMG or not in the video, but it sure shifts worse than an E92 DCT:

I'd say either that's an SMG in the instragram video or it still needs *a lot* of tuning work.

I dont know why he bothered with his original thread if he never intended to take pics or update us on the way

This is exactly my point and I thank you for adding that. What are we on the board for? People ask 'why do you care'? They are all missing the point. Serious members either disregard these kinds of threads or get annoyed like I did.

Ive had engines built for other cars and always shops are happy to post pics

Thats the best part of forums posting pics and getting feedback and comments

And after a few cars gintani have done the dct all we get is a crappy instagram video when dinan man said he wouldnt show anything, which in itself is so silly.

Let him enjoy his car and im
Gonna try and find the ignore button for his posts
