Okay, here is the official GB thread for the Strong Strut brace.
We are going to be buying direct from Strong Strut. The way it should work out, is that we assemble a list of 15-20 then place our orders. They are going to produce a special run for us, where for example, all of the struts will be the anodized black (or silver) with the holes drilled in them. We can set all of that up once we have the appropriate number of members on the list. After we place our order, it should take approx 30 days or so to receive the struts. Also, the "accessory kit" is included in the GD price.
with regard to the method of payment, they do accept paypal or personal checks.
More details to come as they are made available to me.
And now............................................the moment you've all been waiting for................................the pricing/payment information.
this information is for a MINIMUM of 20 orders (so please guys, tell your friends).
If we can get more people (like high 20's to low 30's) we might be able to get a better discount.
Price:
$400 + Shipping ($20 in the continental US, contact them for worldwide shipping rates)
This price includes the drilled holes and the hardware dress up kit.
In total, its a $105 discount over their retail price. Also, all of the outside rings will come in black
(This is due to manufacturing/quality constraints).
Personal Check
Do the same as above, but instead of going through paypal, visit http://www.strong-strut.com/ship&remit.htm
to get their mailing address so you can send them a check.
With 15 people signing up in 3 days, I think another 9 days will allow at least 5 more people to come out of the woodwork. My question is, do we need to individually contact them about the exact amount for shipping so that we add that to the paypal? Otherwise I would remit my payment right now. It's a good deal!

Very good question. From the pictures I've seen, I'd want it silver on all - or I'm out. Course, I'm not in the group buy yet, so I'm no loss to your list, but this one bit is keeping me from joining it.
Course if no silver rings is indeed due to quality constriants, I'd have to figure out what that meant before I'd go in on silver rings too. (and are the quality constraints somehow not applicable if you pay full price? - or are silver rings just inferior somehow?)
Hmm... better not.
Then again, if these questions were answered, and silver rings became available in the group buy price... I'd likely be in.

I believe it was a paint issue. They take a lot of pride in their work, and I guess the quality just wasnt up to snuff. but before you go taking my word as gospel, the best thing to do in this case is to contact strong strut and ask for yourself.
I spoke with Paul regarding the silver on the rings and he says that the bar itself takes the powdercoating very well and has no issues, but the rings themselves have a lot of surface area that are not as easily coated (especially the threading for the bolts) and the powdercoating company that he uses ends up charging him double on the ones that need to be redone (more than 1/2 of each batch). The black finish sticks to it very well. On top of that, it appears more OEM because of the strut covers. The poor guy is recovering from some major surgery, but he is a very nice guy and very upfront. I look forward to receiving my brace.
