You need to either extend the SAP bracket and invert the pump, or find a new location for it.

 

What is this SAP bracket?

There's that big black metal shield with the pump mounted right underneath it. I think I can manage to work around the A/C unit (I think it's part of the A/C).

SAI pump must be mounted upside down in the bracket. Bracket also takes minor modification to get it to bolt back up at the right angle.

On Bank1 (passenger side) the body metal must be cut below the headlight bucket. It's a minor cut that is actually necessary to fit the Dinan intakes. Same goes for the Raza CF replica intakes.

Just hope that that inverting the SAP doesn't start producing a nice squeal for you. I have an annoying noise coming from my pump after installing the dinan CAI. Before installation, it never made any noise. Now for the first minute or so, it sounds like I have a belt slipping on my car due to the SAP.

There is a copy of installation instruction for the Dinan CAI on the board somewhere. Do a search for Dinan CAI, it should be pretty apparent on the bracket and repositioning of the SAP with that.

It will also provide a cut out template for the cut that needs to be made as mentioned above.

That's because inverting the pump, as is required, turns it into a water pump. Replace the pump and your noise will be gone. Or just deal with it for about 80 seconds on cold start LOL.

They are bottom sucking moisture pumps from the factory, but turning them upside down makes the situation worse.



There isn't much required for the cut. Pull the bumper and remove the bank1 intake setup. Loosely install the CF rep piece, and cut a half circle with an air saw where you see fit. Finish off the area with a air grinder and fit the rest of the setup.

 

Could someone please post some pics of the portion that needs to be cutout to install the CAI and a picture that shows the area with the cutout?

You need to notch out that plate to make a proper opening for the CAI. The CAI tube should pass just below that rubber snorkel.

 

^ Right, that's what I'm trying to get at. There is a unit under the part where the bottom red circle is. I haven't had the time to fully research the Dinan relocation for these parts yet, but for now just wanted some quick clarification.

 

You wont be making the notch anywhere near that. It will be on the edge (and its a small notch) of the plate towards the passenger side of the car.

 

Thats the air pump... The Dinan relocation uses a slightly different bracket, and inverts the pump upside down. You can use the stock bracket with a little ingenuity. The pump MUST be relocated upside down, and mounted so the line to the check valve is routed appropriately.

 

I just cut one of the legs of the bracket off and inverted the SAP. If I remember correctly it's the one closest to the engine?

So the piece underneath the black heat shield (small red circle) is the SAP, which I have to remount upside down.

The part that we are talking about is only visible after you pull off the front bumper. It's part# 17

The bracket is #2. I cut the leg farthest right.

 

You'll also have to cut a half moon shape out of this metal piece to fit the intake.

You can, but you would need the software to do so. Otherwise you'll have a check engine light for inadequate secondary air flow.

And once you do that, you won't be able to complete readiness monitoring for OBDII/State Inspection testing. And of course, no Tuner will take the responsibility of erasing the codes, and still satisfying the readiness monitors.

Has anyone been able to install the SAP below its original location but keep it right side up?

 

Why bother? It works perfectly fine upside down.

 

With the people complaining about it making noise after turning it upside down, I figured try to keep it right side up. It's more the noise I'm concerned about. I figured the pump works fine either way......

BTW, is the noise a sign of faulty pump or not? And does everyone's pump make a noise after turning it upside down or are there only a lucky few?

 

All secondary pumps make noise, there are none that make zero noise (unless they aren't working). I turned mine upside down after 87k miles, and it made the same noise as when it was mounted upright. The first 2 minutes of starting your car from cold, step outside and stand near the passenger side front corner and you'll hear it working.

 

The stock air boxes also muffle the noise.. so removing them makes it appear louder, regardless of the SAP orientation. A block off kit would be extremely easy to make and install; however, software is the issue as it is needed to prevent the associated code.

 

Almost done with mine. Just waiting for my heatshields to come in along with the SAP brackets. I've cut the plate to make room for the passenger side CF tube. Unfortunately I've also had to cut off a part of the headlight mounting point, also to make room for the passenger side CF tube. Oh well.... I hope the other 3 will hold the headlight in position.
Also, I think I'm gonna try to modify the OEM SAP brackets since I'm getting too impatient to wait for the Dinan brackets. My ECU just came it today so I'm dying to get the car back on the road.

3 weeks down time is a long wait!

 

You shouldn't of had to cut off the plastic mounting bracket for the headlight...
