Update...

* All rear suspension bushes are replaced. Powerflex where available, OEM for the rest.
* New wheel bearings for the rear wheels
* New rear brake pads (EBC Yellow Stuff)
* New diff seals
* New diff oil
* New gearbox oil
* New suspension: Bilstein B16/PSS9 Clubsport
* New camber plates (sold the previous ones together with the KW V2 coilovers). Mounted the plates differently, to get even more negative camber.

New engine mounts are on order, will be delivered today, and installed somewhere in the next few days.

I'll try to bring the car in for a 4 wheel alginment today.

I took some pictures, but I forgot the camera at the garage...

How easy is it to fit the E46 CSL steering wheel, straight swap? I have the original airbagged E36 M wheel the same as you, the suede CSL wheel looks like it will provide better grip.

Seat brackets are a pain aren't they :hihi:
I ended up making my own from aluminium angle.

It's not a straight swap for the steering wheel. A hole needs to be made at the back of the steering wheel, for the airbag cable. And it's a special made airbag, E36 internals, E46 shape.
I had it made by www.ddtuning.nl.

Drove the car to a tyre shop today, to have the alignment done. Wow. Big difference with the PSS9s. The KW V2 was very very soft, compared to this. I hope it will be a big improvement at the track.

Ragarding the seat brackets, on the gearbox side, we used some home made solution too, not possible to use the universal side mounts in an E36...

I just downloaded the pictures from my camera. Will resize, and post them in half an hour.

The seat mounting was a bit of a head scratching exercise for me too. I bought some OMP E30/E36 adapters and while they probably would fit if you drilled them out in the right places they add a huge 40mm-50mm to the height!
I was contemplating welding in some box section but ended up using 6mm aluminium angle and custom making the brackets.

How easy was it to ditch the sunroof? Blanking off the hole seems to be the major hurdle. Did you use the original sunroof metal to do that or made up a sheet to go in and how was it sealed to the roof? Close up piccies of that would be good if you have them.

Picture time!!

A few pictures of the changes on the car. Also a picture of the wheels that will be used with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres as soon as the weather will be better. As you can see, the daughter's driver training has already started :applause:

@///Mster: removing the sunroof was in fact pretty easy. I asume you know how to remove the sunroof from the car? Just remove the headliner, and you'll see all the screws. Easy.
Then you can remove the part that's visible from the outside, and reuse that to fill the hole:
We used 2 metal pieces of 1 or 1.5mm thick, about 10cm wide, and a little longer than the largest part of the sunroof. You'll see that the roof is reinforced right next to the hole of the sunroof. We attached the 2 metal pieces to these reinforcements with urr, don't know the English word, could it be something like 'blind nails'? Then, when looking from above, the 2 metal pieces cover a part of the sunroof hole. Then we used tons of silicon on the 2 metal pieces, and put the original sunroof on the silicon. Shaked a bit, and made sure the sunroof was somewhere in the centre of the hole. Made sure the sunroof was at the correct height, pushed a bit extra where necessary. Then let it dry, and seal it off with silicon. Done...

I attached a picture of the inside of the sunroof. The 2 red shapes are around the metal pieces, the black lines are around the 'blind nails'. It's a bit more difficult to see, since it's already sprayed white on this picture.
The 2 red shapes cover at least 7 cm of the sunroof hole.

Yes, that's the same thing...
In that case, it's not uncommon for a car to have the rear stabi (anti-roll bar) removed to reduce understeer or increase oversteering where there isn't an adjustable one available.

Had some great fun at the Ring on Monday. It was wet and raining all day, but it was very quiet. I took it rather slowly, to get used to the new suspension setup, and to feel what the car was doing. It did great actually. No *ss shaking when going over bumps in the wet, no weird noises, NO TYRE RUBBING, quite a lot of grip on the rear wheels in the wet.

13 laps, 2 Brathwursten, 2 Redbulls.

Looking forward to the next trip, not decided on the date yet.

Appointment set with Ringracing tomorrow for corner weighting/balancing and shakedown. I will plan on going Sunday for a full day when the weather permits.

Anyone going to go?

Not me... Weekends are a bit difficult for me this season. I spend too much time at the shop, and on Sundays, I need to be at home, to keep the lady happy.
Like they say... If mommy isn't happy, nobody is happy. Believe me, I understand:)

...the Sunday weather forecast for the 'ring is 15+ and sunny :M5thumbs:, as if you could depend on a forecast that far out to be accurate :dunno:

If I can get away... I might...

No more Sundays Fits?

Well, I can't blame you, too many goofballs/cars anymore...

- - different question - what kind of transmission fluid are you using? ...I'm considering changing mine out, help the shifting action, maybe that and some other things at your shop this spring... ;)

OH, and speaking of the shop, have you considered a 'spring barbeque' meet/getogether or something like that?

We could get the M guys in the region to come out, bring the ladies/kids to show it ain't all bad, we are actually sick about the cars and not a mysterious redhead, toss down a few, terrorize the neighborhood, woof down some ribeyes etc - - and you could invite the local press to exploit the event for advertising and tax purposes - ha

Might be a fun idea.... ?

...or, just a few of us and strippers :rofl:

(I always got a kick out of goofballs like me, that come up with ideas to have get togethers at someone elses place... :blink: )

Mark, I'm trying to look as if I'm working. Quite difficult while reading your post hiha

I have to admit, I've been thinking about an event like that. Well, apart from the strippers then, but I like the idea :1: Not sure what I'll tell the lady though.

I'm sure I'll be at the Ring on Sunday a few times this year. It's just, when I want to go on a weekday, I just tell the lady: I looked in your schedule. You don't have to work on Monday, so I'll be at the Ring. And then she says: OK, fine.
That story is slightly different when I want to go on a Sunday. But if all you guys are going on a certain Sunday, I'll try to make it too.

Regarding the gearbox fluid, I use Castrol ATF TQ something. Not sure what the last part of the code is.
