My E60 550i M-Sport. Original M Suspension, non-rolled fenders.
I spent so much time on measurements and calculations of the perfect fitment for OEM suspension, and I think this is it. I havent had a chance to do a long drive on a more bumpy roads, but so far there has been no rubbing.
With the new wheels,
I fixed the rear wheel diameter which in OEM setup (9,5j 19" 275/30 R19) is smaller than the front wheel (
65,41cm front vs 64,76cm rear - 6,5mm difference). Additionally, there is a quite big difference between OEM rims width vs tires width on the front vs rear. The
OEM front tires are wider than the front rims around
2,91cm and on the
rear the width difference between tires and rims measures 3,37cm.
The new wheels are Japan Racing JR23 V2 (Flow Formed)
Exact setup:
a)
Front: 8,5j 19" ET13 (ET28 + 15mm spacer), 245/35 R19 -
65,41cm total wheel diameter, tire wider than the rim around
2,91cm
b)
Rear 10j 19" ET21 (no spacer), 285/30 R19 -
65,36cm total wheel diameter, tire wider than the rim
3,1cm
Now there is more clearance between the wheels and the suspension struts (both in the front and in the rear), than there was with OEM172 wheels - so there is no risk of wheels rubbing the struts.
The distance between the outer position of the fenders and the top of the wheels is approximately 8mm on both the front and rear wheels
, which gives the whole setup a nicely balanced and
almost flush look. From my calculation and tests which I performed with OEM172 wheels it seems the perfect fit where fenders don't rub.
FYI:
OEM 172 wheels:
a)
Front 8,5j ET18 245/35 R19 - I tested for rubbing the fenders with:
- 15mm spacer (ET3) - didn't get any rubbing, but the wheels did stick out a bit outside the fender
b)
Rear 9.5j ET32 275/30 R19 - I tested for rubbing the fenders with:
- 15mm spacer (ET17) - no rubbing even with full load, bumpy road, high speed
- 20mm spacer (ET12) - slight rubbing with full load, bumpy road, high speed (this setup is exactly 2,65mm closer to fender than my final setup with 10j ET21)
- 25mm spacer (ET7) - a lot of rubbing even with lower speeds and less bumpy roads
