You mention the above referenced Lemans blue S2. I have trouble reconciling a car that sold over two years ago and has an additional 40,000 miles on the clock as a comp to my vehicle. While Lemans blue is very beautiful there are several things that set that car apart from mine. Clearly that car is an 01'MY, my vehicle is an 03'MY which as you know is the final year of production and is the ultimate iteration and final version of the vehicle, some buyers prefer this. Having intimate knowledge of my car and reviewing the auction your friend won, I can confidently say that my car is in superior physical and mechanical condition and comes with a detailed history and all the accessories that make it more of a complete package and closer to a collectors piece versus a drivers car. You won't find dead pixels or gaps in the maintenance history. My car has had open checkbook ownership throughout it's life and needs nothing. Examine the pictures of the Lemans car, there are scratches and dents all over the body. The front and rear bumpers have a tremendous amount of damage and could stand to be repainted. There are no dents on my car, the front and rear bumpers are in great shape with virtually no blemishes. Look at the interior of the Lemans car. The seats, door cards, trim pieces, and touch points all show heavy wear. All I have is some light creases on the drivers side bolster. My interior leather is beautiful, matte in color and soft to the touch. My trim pieces and touch points are free of scratches. Look at the picture of the rear view mirror on the Lemans car, it was at the point of catastrophic failure. I had a permanent repair completed on my mirror by radar mirror. That car had a good bit of deferred mechanical and cosmetic maintenance at the time of the auction, which is why it received the price it did. That car was a value add sale, my car is turnkey. You're not comparing apples to apples. If your friend has remedied these issues and not put too many miles on the car, there is not doubt in my mind that he could get more money for it today. However, I sincerely hope he is getting an immense amount of driving pleasure from it.
Back to your initial comment that I'm asking S3 money. Here is an S3 with comparable mileage that sold on BaT 8 months ago for $109,000 (including the buyers premium).
Based on the sale price of the S3 and the recent S2 sale I provided, it is appears to me that S3's comand a bit more money and I have valued my vehicle at a fair price for both the buyer and seller.
With all due respect I see comments like your initial one all too often and I have trouble wrapping my head around them being anything but negative. You felt compelled to blurt out your valuation of my vehicle after seeing three pictures and the mileage. I hardly think that is enough information to make an accurate assessment. Furthermore you did not back it up with any facts or comparable sales. Without any supporting evidence I'm lead to believe your valuation of $60,000 - $70,000 is what you would like to pay for the car, but that has no bearing on it's actual value. This is an open forum and you're free to express your opinions as I am free to qualify my offering.
