as the title says i have this fluctuation in idle and after replacing one idle actuator and two idle hoses after an idle malfunction the idle fluctuation is still there.
so im guessing its either the charcoal filter or the vanos solenoids

anyways in order to do a vanos solenoid test or as some others refer to it as vanos bleeding

can it be done at home and if yes what are the tools that i need

Could someone please post how to do the Vanos test to see the values and do a bleeding procedure, using DIS? A step-by-step procedure on getting to the menu(s) would be helpful!

ok ill start as follows and i thinks its the most logical way (until proven otherwise :p)

1-changes mafs
if it doesn't solve idle fluct
2-change charcoal filter vapor (some say its related)
if it doesn't solve the issue
3-perform vanos bleed (solenoid test) and if solenoids are not ok (change them)
if it doesn't work
4-ask for a witch's help and perform black magic to solve the issue :p

I second this; also don't start buying MAFs ... They don't go that easy... Maybe if it was an Audi, yes, but not on Bmw's.

Does engine need to be running while doing the Vanos solenoid voltage check?
