Well go here first to see my first impressions when I changed the fronts, if you saw that then read on.
THESE TYRES ARE AMAZING! I simply cannot believe the grip they generate straight from cold. Astonishing! For example there is a mini roundabout near my house which I like ;) , I usually come into it in second gear dropping down to roughly 20mph, I then chuck it in, plant the throttle and wait for the back to step out and have a little fun when the road swithces back on itself. After getting the R1R's installed, I went to do just that, and nothing! A little chirp from the rear and she was hooked up and ferociously accelerating, I've never known anything like it. All this and that's after losing 10mm on the rear contact patch (275's not available)

It's not a complaint that its harder to get the back out, well it is, but I am truly amazed by these things, well worth the money, noise is much better than the R888's too. A few pics...

those look great. cost and where did you purchase them? avus blue is the colour and isnt it the rarest colour for uk spec beasts?
Got them for ÂŁ800 all in from Supertyres in Maldon, Essex. They are great guys down there, and have fitted many many supercars down there and have the pics to prove it, Enzo's and LP640's and F40's....and E39 M5's ;)

As for Avus blue don't know if it its the rarest in the UK, I've seen all but the strange red that isnt Imola, i forget the name, and have not seen a Alpine white here either. Still a genuinely beautiful colour though and yes very rare.

Lol that's still over 10% of UK cars but it isn't a lot of cars distributed through the UK, especially as most are down south.

With all these threads surfacing about tyres I have found myself wondering why no one else has taken the plunge on these awesome black beauties? A little update anyway, cannot believe I've had them on for nearly a year. 10k miles, still around 5mm tread left all round! Believe me I don't baby them either. Very even wear too, slightly more towards the inside edge on the rears as to be expected with -2degree camber. They are just amazing, I don't get tired of saying it either!

Have to say the rarest colour I've noticed is Wane's friggin' awesome Estoril Blue one. Lurvely :)

Lee, are these not available in a 19" in 275? Should really check, Toyo's carry some heavy reputation, and nothing speaks like a good review from someone who's run them!

Ah, checked and T1R's available in 275/19 in a 30/35 and 40 profile. Why not such a good range for the R1R, I wonder?

In the thread about production statistics, Chiaretto red is by far the rarest over here, bar White of which there were none produced RHD. Wane's car is just delightful in person, utterly gorgeous.

T1r's are pretty good too, run them on a Puma all round, great traction and noise.

I see no drawback from losing 10mm in the width on such a sticky tyre? Aside from bit of rim 'protection' lost, for which I don't buy tyres for anyway. hmmm

Leezamonkey, reckon you are right about the colour. The numbers i was on about i now think they are/ were the paint code for avus blue. However i did read somewhere that avus is a rare colour. Mind you i am in no way trying to get into any arguements on the matter. If i dig the info up i will post the numbers. In any case they are rare up here as are m5s full stop as i havent seen another for over 4years and that was in spain!

How do these compare to 888s in terms of traction?

In the dry, r1r's have the edge from cold, when warm the 888's just take it. In the wet, 888's can be a nightmare if you're one to leave DSC on. If you're confident with all sorts of oversteer and under steer ALL the time they are very controllable and predictable.

R1r's in the wet, see above but add a bit of traction in between the sideways moments! They are fun lets put it that way.
