Resetting frozen iDrive?

I think my idrive froze on me. The screen is frozen in the idrive menu. I've tried taping the dial in every direction, but there is no response. I've tried pressing the idrive, menu, arrow up, arrow down, +, -, voice command button... there is no response. Good news is that the M button still works!
The CD player still works but I can only control it from the center console.

Is there a reset button. Please help.... anybody.

Have you tried leaving it off for about 15 minutes or so? That has happened to me in the past and shutting car off and leaving it off helped.

press the volume button with the eject buttons for the CD & DVD all simultaneously.

The good & bad news is this is a well known problem.

To reset, either leave the car off for ~30 minutes, or overnight if the shorter time period doesn't work.

To fix, have your dealership 1.) install the software patch specifically designed to address this problem, or 2.) have the CCC module replaced. Search this forum for more info, using CCC module as the search term.

thanks for the help guys... it works to turn the car off for about 30 minutes.
I hope it doesn't happen again.
