First time poster, but longtime lurker...

My '03 M5 (Sterling Gray / Imola Red interior) just went into production today! Owners Circle still reports a 2/7/03 production start date, but I called the 800-# for the heck of it and found out the great news.

How long does it typically take to go through production (to status 155)? I've seen reports of anywhere from 4 days to around a month.

It looks like my car may arrive (Atlanta area) before the end of February, which is definitely earlier than I had expected (my current '00 540i lease expires April 13th). Anyone know if BMW is offering any sort of lease pull-ahead program currently (in other words allow me to turn in the car early at no cost)?

I'm so excited!!!

Just went 155!

My car went Status 155 yesterday (1/27), eleven days ahead of schedule!

Looks like a late-February to mid-March delivery. I can't wait!

Went 160 today (released to distribution)!

Thanks for the great suggestions, guys. Unfortunately my sales person has left the dealership I ordered from (he is now the sales manager at another dealer in Atlanta), so I don't have a relationship with anybody at the dealer. I'm planning on dealing directly with the sales manager when it comes time to take delivery so we'll see what he will do. Unfortunately this dealership is renowned for its "take it or leave it" attitude, so I don't feel too good about my chances, but I'll give it a shot.

Status update: Car went 160 today (1/29). I'm sure I'll never make it, but there's a ship leaving Bremerhaven on 1/31 (the Jingu Maru) that I would LOVE to be aboard... :cool2: If not it looks like the next ship to Charleston isn't until 2/8, unless they use more than one shipping line.

M5-SPY,

How did you look up the cargo information on the Wallanious-Wilhelmson shipping website? Did you get a cargo number from somebody, or were you able to use your BMW Production Number?

My car went 190 (on a train) yesterday, 1/30. It should arrive at the port in a day or so and hopefully get on a ship sometime next week.

My beast arrived at the port (status 193) on 1/31. The Jingu Maru didn't depart until 2/1 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it made it on that ship. BMW still says I'm status 193, so probably not...

Hornsch, any change in your status yet?
