Will the Mkiv gps computer work with the older 4:3 type screen? If yes, does it operate exactly like a 16:9 screen?

Yes, the MkIV will work the same way with a 4:3 screen.

No, you can't get the screen with a CD Player behind (unless you go aftermarket I would guess).

Hope that helps :)

Gary.

Also can you get a 16:9 screen with the cd drive that will fit an E39? I know that you can get it for the E46.

The MKIV works perfectly with the 4:3 screen. I had mine fitted by a friend of mine. The DVD is soooo fast, i really missed this tool in my car after driving E60 etc.

But it took around 45min to install it, he had to remove the cd-changer etc to get the gps-unit (or something like that... ouich )

Have a good week

I have an MKIV computer with a 4:3 screen. Everything works with the following exceptions: Split screen does not work quite as good as the 16:9 screen. With 16:9, you can get a map on the left side with cd track info on right. With the 4:3, as soon as you go to CD, it goes to full track info screen. You can however do splitscreen on navigation (map on left, directions on right)Also, it looks like you lose a sliver of the image on the right hand side with the 4:3 (i.e. satellite icon gets slightly cut off on the right side) Other than that, I have found it to work great, and definitely don't find the need to upgrade to a 16:9 screen.

I'm getting tired of just how slow my MKII (MY00) NAV computer is - both in entering an address as well as having to wait for the computer to catch up because I guess I'm driving too fast (missed an exit last weekend because the computer was late in telling me to turn). I'd also really like to have the NAV split screen. My map CD is also 5 years old so when I drive into new housing developments the NAV computer shows me as driving into green space.

So - where are people buying the MKIV computers these days since the original favorite source is no longer selling them? What's the going rate?
