Call me crazy, but I'd like to know if the M6 I'm searching for will work in snow (w/ snow tires)?

M6 winter driving

Hello,

I have quite a big experience with my beast on snow. First of all make sure to buy the OEM 18" M5 and M6 winter wheels and tires. They are perfectly matched for the car since they are not so wide as the summers - 245/45/18 fronts and rears. I made a ski trip to Austria in January.I caught a period with a lot of snow and I can tell you that the M6 has a lot of grip. It's better than all RWD cars due to the better weight distribution and mostly because of it's locking differential. With the two beautiful skinny girls sitting in the back on my way to Austria I can tell you the grip was even better hiha . If you have a pair of quick add on snow chains you are a monster on the snow. My hotel was in the lowest valley in the ski village Lech and on the steepest way up I used the snow chains ( just for precaution ) and there was no problem. I even stopped and started again - perfect grip. You put on the chains for 2 min. both and you take them off for 30 sec. Here is a pic of the snow condition in Austria.

Best regards.

More M6 in Austria

Gustav,

here you go some more pics. I really didn't have time to make a photo session on the beast. I was so thrilled by those two girls :15:

If the snow is only during part of the year, then no problems, can manage. But if you plan to use this car on snow 365 days a year, you might be facing some problems and I would suggest to get you something with four wheel drive. :D
During this winter we had lots of snow, more than usually. Driving in cities, to countryside, etc, was no problem. Only one time caught myself being in bad mood - while going to ski through the road with big ups and downs I got stuck in the middle of one "up". Had to go back down and take a little longer distance to increase the driving speed to get to the top. :D
Have to be more careful on higher speeds on snow covered roads, but in lower speeds it is lots of fun, can go sideways without doing any damage to tires and/or car. :D

Haha

I'm waiting for the M10 :)
I hope it will be as agile as a m3 as roomy as an m5
And as quick as an m6 then I can be M done

I'm just saying all M cars are very capable in the snow with proper tires.

My E93 M3 was very capable in the snow, it was much better then my previous E46 330ci. The combination of LSD + almost perfect weight distribution makes the ///M cars perform very well in any condition, including snow.

Technovc,
Looks like you are from Texas, so you probably don't get a lot of snow down there. You should be fine with a winter tire/wheel package. I used to drive mine as a daily driver thru the winters in the Midwest and it was awesome. We tend to get more wet snow, slush, and unfortunately....ice. Only used the SUV once but that was due to the depth of the snow and limited ground clearance on the M6. The other thing to remember about our cars is that they use tire compounds that are not good in cold weather. So, whether you have snow or not, they just don't do well on cold pavement.
