Finding build sheet/Old service records- 02 M5

After a search of the board, I see that others have found these items for their car but do not state how or who they contacted. I have called BMWNA for help and they led me to the dealer that sold the car. No service was performed there and they stated they could not provide a copy of the build sheet/window sticker. East Bay BMW has serviced the car but can only go back to 05.

My question: Is there a specific way I can get a copy of the original build sheet and older service records? Plan B would be to list my options and maybe some with an 02 can provide a copy of theirs?

Any suggestions are appreciated. My car will be arriving via transport carrier in 2 weeks and I'm trying to fill my time with details like these until it arrives.

Service History, based on your VIN, should provide Model/Color/Trim Codes and Production/Dealer/Wholesale Dates. Trick is to find someone who works at BMW that is willing to provide it (generally privacy concerns are cited). Usually, it will cover the time period through warranty expiration, at which point there's no guarantee the owner continued to get service at a dealership. Can't help with the Window Sticker if the seller didn't provide.

There's a guy on bimmerfest in the E39 subforum who offers to look up your VIN and give you the service history. His name is Henry and he goes by FlowBMW on the forum. He got me all the dealer service history on my car.

Ok, great info! I will contact him and see what he can find for me.

Also, I do plan on walking into my local BMW dealer in Ann Arbor and see if I can find someone nice enough to look up some info. The phone is not cutting it.

Well, do you know a BMW SA at the dealership? Time to strike up a relationship, chat them up, get all excited... tell him you want to bring it in and get all kinds of work done, fluid changes, brakes, etc.....(ie you are a sucker willing to pay them $120 an hour for book time which is 2x longer than it really takes)...

but you'd like to get the complete service history to know what exactly it might need.

I do not know one yet but I will get to know one when the car arrives. Of course I will be looking under the back seat first just to make sure what I need is not already there.

FlowBMW (Henry) responded to me within 24 hours, pulling all the info he could find on my 02 Beast, and getting it back to me. I still need to decipher some of the codes, but it helped me piece together some early history (02-05) with the 1st owner (I am the 3rd owner). Top notch guy.

I can get you a build sheet w/ warranty work performed. Just need your VIN. I cannot get you work performed outside of warranty, however.

2002 M5 bluewater, purchased originally in Palm Springs, CA. That is all I know about the origins of the car. No service was performed there, I called them and they have no records whatsoever.

Update

I PM'd a guy on the (http://www.bimmerfest.com/) website who must work for a dealer...named FlowBMW. I gave him the last 7 of the VIN and he sent me back all the service history that the PO did not have (prior to 2005). He also gave me the build specs of the car when it was ordered. If anyone is looking for this information, go over to that site and join then PM the guy. He was really nice and same day service.

Looks like my car has 15k interval oil changes along with other maintenance along with some ticky tack items. The PO to me did all his own maint/oil at 88k and beyond with the exception of getting the pixels fixed.

When you get your car, look under the passenger front seat for the factory build sheet. You'll have to pull the seat out to get to it though.
I had pulled my front seats out to do a super-cleaning and found the build sheet stuck in under the seat between the springs and the foam.
The window sticker is a lost cause if its gone though - don't know of anyway to get that back.
