Feedback on BBS LM Le Mans or LM-R wheels?

I have a 2000 BMW M5 and I thought the factory wheels look pretty good on it. My friend swore up and down that the BBS LM wheels or replica of it would look really good on the car. I saw the design of the wheels and nothing really struck me about the rims as being spectacular. They dont seem to be ugly wheels but they look ok. Anyway I decided to get a set of BBS LM replicas and put on my car 18" wheels which is the same size as the stock one. I thought it looks ok but I started to get a lot of compliments at the dealership and on the street. I still don't understand what is it about the design of these wheels that people go nut over especially the Euro Motorsport Enthusiasts. I don't know what it is ::::shrug:::::
Can some one please explain ????? Thanks

PS: I just got my E39 M5 3 weeks ago. I have been driving 98 Accord, 01 325i, and 2005 X5.

I guess everyone has their opinion. I use to have them on my old car, absolutely loved the way it looked. Its expensive if you get the real deal, but you're getting one of the best wheels available. 8000lb forged wheel, it was rock solid on NYC roads and I had 19's. I think that more than speaks for itself. Also I think it looks great, but its a pain to clean.

i would say because bbs has been making rims for street cars and race cars since before i was born. also they are the street version of the ones used in racing, such as lemans(..LM....duh), formula1(looks wise). personally it's because they are the evolution of a rim that had more pourpose behind it than looks, where as today rims are designed to look good rather than actually work good. imo an example of this would be the new 21'' hartge's(which i like i just wish they were smaller).

from what ive gathered on success of rims, 'mesh' styles(BBS Lm's,WORK VX's,Rcing Hart C2,etc,etc) and '5 star' rims (Volk GTC's, WORK wheels again, etc etc) will always have a timeless style...your basic mesh or 5 star is just redesigned over time, but basically the same....thats where qualtiy comes into play...and of course we all know where BBS stands there....

BBS LM and BBS LMR is 2 different wheels :)
BBS LMR is the most recent dwheel which just recently came out.

One of the feature that I like about BBS Lemans (BBS LM) is because of the spoke is flat aside from the spoke design. That's why there a lot of wheels (tons of them) that looks good straight on from a picture but only a few looks good on the actual car.

I like wheels that either has a completely flat center face, or convace (caved-in as it goes toward the middle), it looks more aggresive that way.

Its the same reason why OEM E39 M5 wheels looks so good at angle shot (concave).

deep dish..!! :)

BBS LM and LMR, just great lookin' rims, the right combination of bling and understatement. Again, just my humble opinion.

So what's the typical price for a set of BBS LM wheels? Count me in the camp that thinks that they are gorgeous. I do like the stock OE wheels, but mine have a bit of curb rash and if... excuse me, when I win the lottery, I'd like to upgrade.

The BBS LM wheel is legendary, in its centre-locking guise its the single wheel that holds the most motorsport victories ever. Its been around for a long time, evolved a bit without losing its shape.

Its legendary like the Cosworth DVF engine etc.

It really shows someone focuses on performance aswell rather than looks only.

BBS LMs look good and are a fresh classic if that oxymoron makes sense. Personally, however, I like the stock wheels because they not only look good but make the car instantly recognizable as an M5. A lot of people with non-M e39s (and e46s, etc.) have aftermarket wheels on their cars. Nice, but not as exclusive as the OEM wheels. It's not like the OEM wheels are so cheap or ugly looking that I would feel compelled to swap them.

Generally-speaking I prefer the RGR and RS-GT when it comes to BBS wheels on BMWs, but some BMWs look "right" with the LM. I think most people pick what they want, rather than thinking about what the car wants. It's usually pretty obvious when it's "right" - like the LMs on RoninM5's beast, the CHs on olis1's (Those are CHs, right?), and the RS-GTs on mine. Each of those cars look right, yet they are all different, yet they are all M5s - they just have different personalities.

I thought the BBS LM were the best after market wheels for the beast after seeing them on the nowack M5

The LM's are the perfect wheel for the M5.

Understated elegance and performance. Always classic.

Where has this beast been? When is your buddy going to bring it out? You know since he's a pilot, we could use a spotter during group drives:grinyes:
