Plain wrapper? You bet!

A couple of years ago as I drove into the National BMW Festival event, a well-known 2002 fan and former E28 M5 owner shouted at me,

'Oi! This is the M-Power section! You can't bring a 518i in here!'

Perhaps one day I will invest in a 518 badge.....

114 - Lachs silver, Black leather 0203, Satin Black Chrome 339. Otherwise standard GB specification car - see other posts in this thread.

I was in contact with a previous owner of this car a couple of years back.

Option code 940

Snippet for fellow anoraks: 940 is 'Special request trim': (GB) cars with option 459 (memory for electric drivers' seat or simply '458 [electric seat operation]+ memory') all show this code. So it wasn't just for special trim colours.

154

Diamond black, pearl beige leather 0206, 339 Satin Black Chrome. Built 87/04.

This was a very popular colour combo back then: 31 cars in Diamond black, 14 of those had Pearl beige leather.

Hope this helps!

I need to edit an earlier post but cannot - so this will have to do.

Information now to hand shows that the 20 GB cars with special paint came in 4 shades, not 3.

Blue/black metallic: 13 cars
Green/black metallic: 5 cars
Blue/green metallic: 1 car
Glasurit white paint: 1 car (pearlescent finish)

Looking at the blue/black, it looks like the macao Blue of the M3 e30 and M5 e34.
I'm pretty sure that some of the special m5 e28 colours became afterwards regular colours.

I'm actually mailing with David (rhd77), his shade is in my opinion the greener shade of the 2 types of delphin gray metallic, the greener was a shade only for the last e28.
We are checking on...

Batmobile,

Funny you should say that....looking at the most recently posted images of 077 last night I was thinking 'it's almost grey'. But it is definitely a Special Paint car.

I wasn't aware there were two shades of Dolphin grey - can you ssupply any additional information on that?

This year i attended to the creme21rally as official bmw car, they gave to Ulrich and i an M3 e30 cabrio to go there.
We met with the other BMWs drivers, and there were a 525e one of the last in a marvellous grey/greenish shade, talking with the owner i knew that it was a greener shade of dolphin gray, made only in 87.
I suggested Dvid to take contact with the owner by contacting the co driver, Mr Ziegler, President of the e12/e28 Club.
So i hope that soon we will have news..

Is this interioru stock? I havent seen these woodpanels? Full elather as welll, with leather on the instrumentpanel. Very nice.

:p

Wait & see how long it takes me to fit those calipers...
I've had a new regulator for the drivers side window for 5 years......!

Here are the photo's of the interior as promised.

Gustav,

I haven't seen these wood panels before. There's nothing listed on the build record for this car (Luxor beige with Nutria trim) to suggest where they came from. Could they have been made from thin panels and added?. Also of note is the brown dashboard moulding to match the trim - I have seen this on another M5 with Nutria trim.

This car - the only GB car in Luxor - was also the only E28 M5 supplied by The Ashdown Garage in Sussex.... which later became Munich Legends.

The superior trim of the car in Nutria was avaliable after 9/84, for all the e28. The wood trim was a aftermarket of an italian tuner, Orciari.
