BMWCCA: Is it worth it?

I've been considering joining the local BMWCCA chapter. Anyone have positive or negative comments regarding it's value, the events, driving schools, etc?

Thanks

I've been a member for 26 years, and I've saved many thousands of dollars over that time including getting 500 to $1000 rebates on new BMW purchases. My dealer gives 15% off parts and labor for club members. I did my first track event in 1981, have done many since that time, and I've met some great folks at club events over the years. It is well worth it.

What are you waiting for??? Roundel is awesome, the driving events are lots of fun, and the discounts from the dealer make it a no brainer!

Most definitely! So far I have saved thousands on parts and over $1000 on the purchase of 3 BMWs - one new and 2 CPO. Plus Roundel is great. So far I figure I have shelled out about $300 or so to get all these benefits.

If you need a referral, my CCA number is in my signature :)

It depends.

It's a good deal if: you let the dealer work on your car; if you buy parts at the dealer; if you plan to buy a non-M new BMW; if you don't own a proper race car and you wish to drive around a track with other guys of similar skills; and/or if you are club kind of guy.

Roundel is well done, but mostly I used it for the classified ads. I use an independent shop instead of the dealer, so no CCA discount. For the work I do myself, I buy parts online, so no discount, but is still generally less expensive than buying at a dealer with the discount. And as I recall, when I bought my M5, there was no CCA membership rebate on M5s. (And unless they start building E39 M5s again, I am unlikely to buy another new BMW :) ) I race a 64 Porsche, and have absolutely no interest beating up the family M5 on the track. As for club social life, I would rather go out carousing with my buddies, or stay home with the family.

So I let my membership elapse years ago, despite the fact that I run into an ex-Pres of CCA now and again. OTOH, I have been a member of BMWMOA for 20 years, though I really can't articulate why.

Didn't think it would be worth it when I signed up for 2 years ago when I got my 330ci. Turns out I really enjoy Roundel and think that's worth the cost alone. But the new car discount is a great bonus (although it's been 3 months and mine still hasn't been processed:() Who couldn't use an extra $1000?

Definitely join.

Roundel is an excellent mag. You get a 10% discount on parts from the dealer. You can get a refund with the purchase of a new or CPO car. I got $500 back this year when I bought my CPO'd 03 M5. $500 pays for a lot of membership renewals. Besides, most local clubs are very active with DE's, training, autoX's, etc.

Definitely worth it. The local Chapter BMW CCA driving school at Willow Springs with my '01 M5 was much cheaper and much better than the BMW Performance School at CA Speedway.

More one on one instruction with instructors sitting in your car.

Roundel is a standout magazine among car clubs.

The dealer discount is great.

And the car purchase rebate is fantastic.

What dealer discount?

10-15% off BMW parts from the dealer

The club is worth it. I enjoy reading the Roundel, particularly the letters and the classified ads. Most dealers will give you 10% off parts with a CCA membership (my Tucson dealer recently stopped due to a spat with the local CCA leadership:sad3:).

I have received $1500 back so far on BMW car purchases because I am a member - that pays for many years of membership!

Good choice. The CCA is great.

By the way, it was through my CCA Membership that I learned that we drive Bimmers. The motorcycle guys had dibs on the term Beamer/Beemer - however you want to spell it.

Now that I know, it is amazing how many people don't know that - including a local dealership named Benz and Beemer. (Do you sell motorcycles? No. Then change your name, idiot!)
