I've never seen a US spec with a tie-down.

 

Usually the tie-down is at the base of the battery. I almost lost a track day (325 day + 150 insurance) for a battery that wasn't tied down enough. I worked out a rope over the terminals tied to the tray.

Is the type of tie-down like #15 here? Or something else?

They don't have any hold downs except for the foam and the plastic cover that bolts in.

Is the foam attached to the underside of the plastic cover, or a separate piece?

 

They don't have any hold downs except for the foam and the plastic cover that bolts in. This is why it is important to use the correct size battery, it all fits tight. Read the battery thread title is something about available choices. You will find it in the FAQ.

 

Mine is separate and does not appear to ever been attached to the plastic. I can't find it in real oem but sometimes things are in weird places. Maybe try trim or something like that.
