I don't have the alutecs, they are different because the squares on the spokes are more edgy. Mine are more rounded off at the edges as you can see in the gazillion pics of the rims on mine floating around

Anyways, I am considering getting either BBS Le Mans or M-pars.

In real life you should compare them to other rims, one easily spots the difference in finish and personally I think they appear completely different than the ACS's. What I like about my rims is that they look nice proportionalwise and are easy to clean. Also the deep dish effect without having the old-school outer ring makes me prefer them over my old ( original ) 17" 3-piece ACS's ( see gallery). The money those made when I sold them got me the current 18s and some cash for two more tire changes ( well, one after the ancient tire thing:grrrrr: )

Mine are not original ACS, but the finish was a lot better than the Alutecs. After I refurbed them they can rival the ACS finish. Last time I checked original 18's from ACS ( the 4 sets they have left) must still bring about 480 euro without tax a piece. Which is more than I payed for the four of mine!

Unfortunately I had an encounter with some sidewalk pavement with the old tires ( no surprise) which knocked one of the rims unbalanced. Will get that fixed next week I think, as work is VERY busy at the moment.

I think you should not get the Alutec ones, Geach is right on that lacquer thing. If I would not have access to refurb facilities ( total cost = € 27 .- for me!:hihi:) I would not have bought non original rims

I had a set once, they are indeed cheap and cheerful! Give them 6 months and the laquer will start to fall off, then the water will get in and they go white. You gets what you pays for Im afraid!
Sorry if this was a little abrupt! I must admit I really did like the style of these wheels, ran them on an e34 535is and an e28 M535,they did look cool! Just before I got rid of them due to the whiteness appearing I caught one leaving the garage jet wash, not hard, but it remove a very large chunk very easily. This put me right off them, very soft!
