Yes I did. Meant to post an update earlier.

Basically it worked right away, I just didn't know how to how to operate it. I got a hold of a 2008 owners manual and after reading the climate control section, everything worked as expected.

Basically you push the left or right temp knob center buttons to change the airflow streams, and you push the center button to change the air speed in 3 steps while in auto mode. The changes made by pressing any of these 3 buttons are shown in the CIC display as you perform them, pretty cool.

Also, once I set the parked car cooling timers, those began to function as well. So all that's left to do now is to decide I want to go ahead and install the new idrive controller with Patryk's collar. I don't really mind navigating using the odl controller, but I do see how the new one would be a bit quicker, allthough with having mapped the 8 "radio station" buttons to my most used functions, I got things working quite well now.
