hi , guys,
i was wondering if any member also have a porsche 911 turbo 2001/2002. I am a process of buying the car from the dealer. I want to know what pro and cons of buying this. Better to buy or lease? What is the depreciation of this vehicle after 3 years?
is the car worth it? How many are made in production ?
any info on this car will be great!

I think you have picked the ultimate compliment to your M5. The 996tt is arguably the best value in technolgy, build quality, and performance. It is like the M5 in that it is nicely understated, although you can modify it with a myriad of different types of tuners. I just placed my order last week, did you order the Aerokit? I think the way to financing really depends on your financials, I think cash is always cheaper.

no, it was a open allocation, the sticker on the car is 122K.
silver 2002. no aero kit, im not sure what is that. i personally wanted the GT2 but there was none.
is this car a twin turbo or single?

how about yours, when is yours coming in?

I have been waiting for 20 months for my allocation spot to finally order at MSRP. The base model starts at $115 an increase from last years model at $112. The Aerokit is a new front and rear spoiler and some bottom side skirt improvements, all painted to match the rest of the car, as opposed to black which is stock. I was planning on purchasing the GT-2 also. But at $60-$70k more I couldn't justify the value in the car, which it doesn't have 4wd, stripped down, and the same motor, composite brakes are only better is used on track no improvement on the street and quite noisy. Porsche will have a power kit upgrade in the future for the 996tt to GT-2 level or very close There are other tuners already getting more power than the GT-2's for the 996tt.

Possible allocation spot opening

I may have an immediate opening for a 2002 turbo order. To make a long story short, last year (before getting my M5) I had a deposit on a GT-2 in December but ended up one place short in line (third), I had them roll it over on the standard 996tt. Well they called today and I decided not to go ahead with the deal (for October delivery). A friend of mine may be interested, but if he doesn't go for it, I'd rather offer it to the list ( nothing in for me except I get my $1k deposit back)

If you can afford it, always better to purchase than lease, which IMO, is like renting a car.

To get a estimate of its depreciation after three years, one needs to look no further than at the preowned '96 and '97 993TT.

Preowned prices can be on the high-end of anywhere in the 90's or close to original MSRP ($105k) for an extremely clean and low mileage car to approximately $75 to 80k for a car with some mileage on it.

I looked at three recently, 1 - '97 and 2 - '96, with approx. 28k ('97) 35k ('96) to 43k ('96) miles and the seller/dealers wanted anywhere between $82/88.5k (both '96) and $91k (97).

Champion Motors, which is the largest US Porsche dealer in Florida has two preowned 96 or 97 that's selling at $103k.
