Dan, your comments are appreciated. Have your recoding wish list. And I have a few more. No splash screen, select no (nicht activ) bulb check messages. Thats basically the code change. Either activ or nicht activ. Therefore no more resistors needed when doing LED upgrades. No faults That's just a taste of options.

P.S. Your package is on the way. You'll only need 2 wired connectors for the Illuminated sill upgrade and the power supply.

They do have red, although I haven't seen it personally. It's pretty bright overall so I imagine if red is your choice you won't be disappointed. I do not know of any dealers/distributors in the UK. The one I used (East Coast US) were very helpful and honest. You may have to search distributors on the web.

In one of the posts above you will see the retailer that I used. They may be able to give you a start where to get it locally. Been a couple of years since I did mine. Still bright and kicking.

This is directly from the DIY I wrote way back when. Make sure you choose the larger power supply (There is a picture on page 23). It gives you maximum amperage to light them fully. Only one needed for both sides

The total length on the sum of the drivers and passengers side will be about 48 sq” (24 sq” each side). Since this was on the threshold of of 50 sq ”, I opted for the Power Supply below which is rated 50-100 sq ”.

The strips (OEM) themselves go bad. Basically, they no longer illuminate. You will see (if you do this), the difference in the OEM (very thin and narrow) strip, vs. an aftermarket. My opinion is it's merely prone to water/moisture/poor electrical connection at the strip itself. I believe the thread has a picture of OEM vs. light tape strips.

No they cannot. They come as a whole unit. There is no part number for the strip itself, and once removed, why bother replacing with an OEM strip if an aftermarket is better, even if you could get an OEM strip. The shape of it is rather odd and must be made for BMW specifically. So the choices are replace with an OEM complete sill or mod it. By the way, do a voltage check at the connection (which is located just below the carpet seam on both the drivers and passenger side. (Specifics are in the DIY), just to make sure you have voltage at the connector and you are not dealing with another problem.
