I purchase just the sticker from them to cover the old faded one. Or you can purchase the whole badge.

Actually i'm looking for similar vinyl decal like the one that atomic80 has on his front bumper horizontal bar (not sure exactly what you call it). Here's a picture of it (hope okay to use his picture here).

What's the deal with that bar, anyway? I'm kind of interested in it, and see them occasionally. However, my M5 doesn't have one, and you never really hear about them...

I think I saw those on ebay or ones like it. Give a look there and let me know.

I know a lot of companies out there selling aftermarket dress up stuff for BMWs and I've never seen a decal like that. If it were me I would of course Google it with something like, "bmw motorsports decal" or "M3 Decal / M5 Decal" and see what comes up.

Hard to find stuff like this turns up on eBay once in awhile too.

Wished I could be of more help.

The stripe on the blue car is airbrushed/painted on the splitter.

I looked for it everywhere, didnt find it. So i resorted to paying a graphic company $30 and they custome made me a sticker. Look for companies that do neon signs or signs/stickers in your area, they can make you one. :lightbulb:

Guys,
This is painted on, not a decal. I have the original iteration of it on my 2001, put on by its designer, Lauren Okamura. Lauren is an architect here in Honolulu, and I wound up buying his car. He told me it took him a lot of time to get the proportions just right, and then he had a local shop paint it on the splitter. I still have the invoice from Cosmic Custom Airbrush, showing that Lauren paid $83.20 to have it painted on in 2001. It was such a success that he had another one made for his friend from the Pacific Northwest, Atomic80. Anyway, that's the true history of this ///M insignia, and incidentaly, it still looks great today after four years on my [Lauren's]car.

I went with a vinyl decal for two reasons, easy to apply and easily removable if/when you get tired of it. And it looks great,see...

Tried to pm you this question, but I don't have enough posts...so, I hope you catch this. Know this post is ancient history, but was your decal done locally? I might be interested in defacing my M5 with that thing for about a week or so just for fun.

I'm the owner of the LMB M5 with the M colors on the front splitter. This car was previously Jason's car and yep, they are painted. Looks great.

Lorin isn't an architect...he works at a Newspaper facility. I'm not sure what he does though. He currently drives a S55 these days.

FYI, the tri-colors are painted but I believe the outer silver pinstripes are thin vinyl stickers. Mine looked great just before I sold it to Jon. I had it covered with 3M clear bra material too.

Atomic80's car is my car now. He told me the Mstrips were painted on but I always kind of found that hard to believe. It has a clear bra over it so its difficult to tell. And Yes, its the bar from the 540 Msport package.
