Yeah, the M6 is just sick! Not special enough to upset my love affair with the E39 M5 though.

Sorry to here about your battery. I know it is to late to be helpful, but maybe someone else will save a few bucks latter. Napa has our battery. I think I paid $120 a few months ago when I replaced mine. Bring the expensive battery with you though next week when you come for lunch!!!

Oh no no no...Apparently, there is a special battery that goes in the X5 that costs $644 after installation . Had it been out of my pocket, I would have told them to jump off a bridge. I hope that thing is plated in platinum...

OMG!!! And John Allen up at Global frowned at me when I told him the dealer prices were a little over the top! To which he replied, yeah but everyone needs us in the end. True that, John Allen is an exceptionally knowledgable and helpful guy, and the folks at GLobal are pretty great, but six bills for a battery still chaps my ***!

I wouldn't go to Global if you tied my hands behind my back and put a gun to my head. I've always had great luck with Nalley, and in limited interactions with United, I have no complaints, but there isn't a thing a dealership can do for me (out of warranty) that a good tuner shop can't for about half the price. Don't know John Allen, and I am sure he is great, but if a dealership can tell someone with a straight face that a battery+installation will be $650 dollars, they are out of their mind.

I was in Tennessee when I got the battery replaced and I giggled when the SA came to the lobby to show me the invoice. My first question was, "You're joking, right?"

"battery+installation will be $650 dollars" That's the kind of sh*t some girl you are on a date with tells you and you just look at her trying to figure out if that means she will fall for "really I swear, it's just the tip"!

John Allen is at the parts counter at Global. Great guy and really knowledgable. No, I would never interact with a dealer for service out of warranty. Solomotorsports is my indy shop of choice when I am not not able to the work myself.

First meet up was a lot of fun even though the rain haunted us on our after lunch drive. Hope everyone can make it out next month on the second Sunday at 1 PM.

Awesome! A group of us will probably be making the trek up to Caffeine and Octane Sunday July 7th and then getting together for lunch at Willy's and a drive the following Sunday as the original post says. Shoot me an email, [email protected]

Here is the map for Intown Atlanta M's Sunday lunch and drive. We meet for lunch 1 PM at Willy's on Howell Mill just off 75 and then we will go for the mountain drive from there.

Hope everyone comes out and joins in.

Awesome Ken! I've updated the event page to reflect the driving route (there is one for Google Maps & Mapquest). https://www.facebook.com/events/146851022175183/

I've yet to figure out how to get these maps added to my iPhone for turn-by-turn directions so if anyone knows how to do that, it would be appreciated. Come out and enjoy some good eats and - if the weather holds - a good drive up north through some twisty roads.
