Seeking a Portland Oregon mechanic

Hey everyone. Been a member for years in anticipation of. But getting an e39 m5 eluded me till now. Im in need of a good indipendent bmw (and hopefully e39 m5) guy in the Portland Oregon / Vancouver Washington area. Even if it's a very knowlegble and experienced person that does work on the side. There always seems to be at least one stand out person in my area for different specialized cars. I had a DSM guy, a TDI guy, and I need a M5 guy now. Hopefully in time for the pre purchase inspection.
Thx
Chad

I used Bayern Autohaus in Beaverton for my brakes a few months back. They were competent. I'm curious to see what other folks recommend too.

I just got a referral for Brock Import Auto repair by a buddy with a 2010 m3. He claims they have a tech that only works on BMWs. More referrals would be good. Especially a m5board member.

Joseph is the owner of munich motorworks on SE holgate and 39th. They host DIY days for BMWCCA members and have been super helpful to me many times. 503.583.2313.

Thanks for the info. I'll start calling a couple of the recommend guys. Hopefully I can still find a local e39 m5 guru.

This is great! Two days ago I picked up a 2003 Lemans blue m5. I'm looking into replacing the clutch and guibo and whatever else should be addressed.. It's great to see other m5 owners chiming in. I drove a brand-new M5 in 2001 and have been waiting for my chance to get one ever since. Are there any local forums for M drivers to get together in Portland?

Well, I went to Munich Motorworks and met the owner Joseph. Very nice guy and seems genuine. He put it on a lift for me and gave it a once. $4500!
Welcome new BMW M owner LOL
Thats a 3rd of what I paid for the car.
Needs:
Clutch, flywheel, rear sway bar brackets and links, rear main seal, quibo, both front upper (I believe) control arms, motor and tranny mounts, alignment.
I may look into clutch doctors and DIY the rest.
Does that pricing for those repairs sound about right? Its just a Luk clutch and flywheel. OE specs.

They're probably charging you full rip for OE clutch and flywheel, so that price point sounds about right. Labor for that job is also quite expensive. As for the dollar amount in the grand scheme of 12-15 year old M car?..I'm at $12k over purchase price and counting, and am the only person to turn a wrench on mine so far. I hope you have an understanding partner : )
