We like this as it gets us to do the ToD on weekdays the much preferred days for "fun" runs (weekends tend to clog with touristas). As you can discern from this list we tend to be pretty active. In the spring we tend to stay near the Dragon, while in the fall we stay in log cabins in Gatlinburg. As our planning for Spring run is just now getting started won't have much to pass along but will do so as soon as possible. This is not to say somebody else or some other group will not plan and execute another entirely different trip to the ToD. If so, let me know as well as I love to drive 1320 miles just to run those fantastic 11 miles. BTW, any 6ers are also invited to participate in SESF which began as e24 6ers only but has since started bringing in the e63/64 crowd. As you can see I have participated every year from 2006. Location is not yet announced for 2010, but SC, NC and Georgia remain strong candidates.

Wow, that is awesome. I would love to be a part of the group if you let me in . I googled sharkfest and think I found your webiste. Do you guys keep in contact any other way? Looks like a lot of fun and I would be up for anywhere. I live close by to the dragon so I am "cheating" a little, but it is still a great drive. Especially the Dragon-Cherohala Loop Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC

Anyway, let me know any details of an upcoming meet with you guys or anyone else that wants to do a dragon run. I would love to get some 5's and 6's together to terrorize these small towns

We always include a run or 2 on the Cherohala on our trips. The secret to GREAT ToD runs is early (I mean start the run at 0730 or before) weekday runs and/or sitting and waiting at least 10 minutes after any traffic has started. We group up at either end and go in a group as best we can (I won't divulge tactics here). Starting this early can also leads to at least one, possibly two weekend runs as well.

I/we are not SESF. Some of us e63/64 (M and non-M) 6ers participate, but we are not the organizers. Our little group of BMW Dragonslayers just uses SESF to help feed our ToD fever. We extend fom NY to Florida to California. We would love to add to our group and welcome any and all Bimmerheads (we have even had non BMWs participate - hows that for inclusion)

I will get you info on how we plan and also post up here as well.

Please do not use the words terrorize small towns. Some of us (well me and one other) were accused of that very thing and spent some quality time with 6 Graham County Deputy Sheriffs over a considerable period of time.

M6Cabrio, we would love to have you! I've been going with the group from the beginning, Fall '06, and now will soon be in the market for an M6!

Thanks for getting the info. Sorry about the "terrorize" comment. Some of the small town cops think they are big shots around here and can do what they want. My cousin is the Federal District Attorney around here and my uncle was a State Trooper for over 30 years in this area, so sometimes I get away with things that others don't. Hopefully your time with the Sheriffs weren't too bad!

That was all in good fun so no worries - we get a laugh each time we tell the story during our ToD meets, but it also reminds us to be a little cautious around Robbinsville. I see this got moved to the Northeast section - although it is all about the ToD. Must be because the OP is from NJ. He has not played with us for awhile.

I'm already seeing about 3-4 positive attendees, and one possible drop out from our main group due to previous commitment.

You should note that Mr. BMWs' last post was in 2006.

However, we are on track for 27/29 April then off to Southeast Sharkfest (SESF) at BMW plant in Spartanburg on 30 April. We leave SESF on Sunday 1 May and head back to ToD for drives on Monday and Tuesday.

Some of us are staying at Snowbird Lodge for the before session (April 27-29) but I think we filled them up. There all kinds of accomodations nearby in Robbinsville if you do not live close (Sorry I did not note where you lived). Pretty basic fare unless you opt for some kind of fancy cabins. Our favorite spring hangout, the Tapaco Lodge, closed a couple of years ago and has not reopened.

Here is the ToD web site: Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC

Let me (us) know if you need more info.
