Timmayfest 2011 in review......

I would like to dedicate this thread to ideas on improving the event for next year while it is fresh on our minds......

Let's try to stick to new ideas in this thread please. Point out what didn't work, what worked perfect, and what you would LIKE to see happen.

My thoughts,

1. Dedicate someone in charge of the front gate. Thank you to everyone who helped out! Next year we really need to work up a schedule and stick with it. I felt horrible for those who worked the gate for hours without relief. I made up 200 packets to hand out at the gate and ended up with almost 100 and the end of the day. We had over 200 cars there, half of which didn't get packets. I was sort of using the packets to count cars.

2. Organize parking better. It wasn't BAD, it just could have been better, mainly in the grass. With the lack of MB's that showed up, maybe next year we will dedicate the East grass to only E39 M5's, and the West grass to the rest of the M's.

3. Peter has to be there to MC. I HATED that. I need to better organize the raffle as well.

4. Situate the DJ so everyone can hear announcements. Anyone on the West side of the lot couldn't hear a thing.

5. Photo opportunities. I wanted to do mass pictures of model generations. This may be a venue issue. If we would have held it at a fair ground or something, where we had more room, this would have been possible. We will see what happens next year.

6. I need to make some banners that label where T-shirts/raffle tickets are being sold and donations can be made.

7. Order less shirts! I had over 60 shirts left. Next year I am only ordering 150. If we run out, we run out...... LOL.

Thoughts?

I would turn it into one big install day, but that is just me Oh, I would also have more domestic cars, or at least engines - that forrin' stuff is too complicated for me

I wouldn't change much. The venue was great - a larger venue with a field would be good in some respects, but having a decent place to eat and drink is worth it, plus not being out in the middle of nowhere is pretty nice, especially for those with significant others or kids that could care less about a bunch of cars.

The only thing that I would definitely change was to have a way to get cars out of the grass before the end of the day.

Once your car was parked on the grass you were basically stuck until the end of the day, especially if you showed up on time. A couple of 4x4s and 2x4s would solve that problem cheaply and easily. I wouldn't park on the grass again if I didn't know there was a way to leave without waiting until the end of the day (and that's not because I ended up having to let you drive my car )

All in all it was a great event and you did an outstanding job of organizing it.

If you find this post unsatisfactory, please add me to your Ignore List so you will not be disappointed again in the future.

Make it longer. it was too short.

The one thing my wife and I enjoyed was doing everything as a group everyday. traveling to the drags and then to dinner together was a blast. We travel to OH every year for the TA nationals and although fun it is too much of a waxer show and nobody does group events. I have always told my wife that a great show would be several days long and incorporate driving events. Timmayfest is just that.

Police escort! Do the police escort!

I know you tried, and nobody ponied up the cash up front. But I think if on the day of the event, you get $20.00 from everyone, they'd acquiesce. What are they gonna do? Say no? Doubtful.

Oh, and have a liquor ice luge. You think the Eurocharged Girls were crazy before.....

good idea on the Ice luge. they could car the BMW logo on one side and the Benz logo on the other side. Do you think the Hotel bar would allow an Ice luge though?

Meh, we'll just sneak it in the back door of the hotel and put it in my bath tub. Party's in Clayton's room!

I did have a few people offer some help, but not near enough to cover the cost. I just moved the money they donated to the Make -A-Wish fund.

Sorry it didn't work out. I will make sure it does next year!

I will say it was super badass riding shotgun in Marcus's 911TT and literally parking sideways in the middle of the intersections to let you guys through. He pissed off so many people. I loved it....

I feel really bad that I could NOT get a good angle at Saturdays Timmayfest meet for the generation photos. When I was on top of the room and there were poles and wires and signs in the way and the cars were all facing the other direction I was discouraged.

I will say this. It would be nice if everyone attended the drag meet the night before for photo shots! When I was on top of the bleachers at the event I realized I had the PERFECT angle and enough room that we could have had all the cars the way I would have liked to angle them like I mentioned before.

Please suggest everyone to come to drag meet next year on the Friday before so we can have the photo shoot of all the cars in their generations. Next year we can get one of each generation of M5... HOPEFULLY someone will have an F10 there. lol. That would be the jizz.

I also suggest not to let me get to drunk next year. I almost pissed Chris off enough to "break me in half" lol! Sorry bro.

I strongly suggest that even IF we cannot get a police escort, it would be in our best interest to have Mark at least bring his off duty light? if he has one lol. Dont police officers get lights to use on their cars when off duty but for emergencies and such? I thought it would have been bad *** to see him lighten the intersections up in the Porsche.

I also would like to get some good rolling shots of still and video so if some of you could SLOW THE F DOWN when I am shooting! lol.

Everything else went VERY well Tim. I think that if next year is planned out like this years was... It will work out great again. Everything went very well. From the drag to the dinners to the event.

I would honestly like to see about 100 more M.B. next year. Can we get in touch with the guys on a Mercadies forum??? May want to include the Audi guys as well.

Great idea on getting people to come to the drag event! Doubling it as a photo session!

We will absolutely have the police escort next year......

The rolling shots need to be discussed before we hit the road. I am sure people just didn't know you wanted to do it.

We did have the event in full swing over on MBWorld.com. I'm not sure why we are having such a hard time getting the MB crowd on board.....

NO AUDI's or VW's. Sorry....... Unless it is an extremely RARE Audi or VW........
