Question New M% owner

I just recently purchased not only my first BMW but my first M5.....WOW I love this car. I have been reading thru many of these chats and I feel like I have no idea of the potential in this car. I dont have the luxury of the dealer to go over everything this car can do. I'm also waiting on the guy who got the car for to get the owners manual, the navigation disk and the missing pieces from the tool kit. My car is a 2008 M5 with the SMG transmission with all the options (I think) Its in great shape with 35000 miles on it (black interior and Black paint). I have had the windows tinted but other than that the car is stock. I have played with the Mdrive a little but not sure what I'm changing in the car. The only thing I know right now is I love that "M" button. This car is not for everyone and it hates to be driven slow and in automatic. Its wants to go fast and be driven!!!

Because I dont have the manual yet and no one I know has the car I was hoping someone could give some information. Like I said as far as I know the car is stock besides the tint. No spacers, scoops, rims, exhaust, headers just flat fast as hell just as it comes.

Is there a specific setting that I should play with? Any simple additions to the car that I should do right away? Any maintenance issues to keep up on? Really just any good information would be appreciated. The information on this site is great so thanks and again thanks for any advice you can provide.

you can download a owners manual online from www.bmwusa.com -> owners

and yes, highly recommend reading the manual. Then once your done, read it again. A lot of questions you have will be answered.

As far as car settings go, it depends on your driving style and where you are driving (in the city or highway). I normally keep my car in auto or "D" mode in D3 on shift settings. M mode is everything to the max but i keep DSC on. But thats just me.

Thank you

I just went on-line and down loaded the manual...Thank you. I have been playing with the settings and I see a big difference between the "S" and "D" settings but I also drive fast so that might be why.

Again thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the manual!!!
