Hey M5 gents,

As I'm relatively new to the board and E39 M5 ownership, I'd like to get to know a few of you guys, check out your rides and add a little coffee/breakfast and drive to excercise our beasts a little bit.

I'm gauging interest in a drive that would start at Amante Coffee in Boulder on North Broadway Street(4580 Broadway Street, Boulder) sometime in the morning, say 8:30ish on Saturday, May 21st.

The drive would start there, head up Left Hand Canyon going west toward Ward. Then take the Peak to Peak highway, (hwy 72) north to St. Vrain Drive (hwy 7) going east back down into Lyons. From there we could either head back down hwy 36 into Boulder. Fantastic road, lots of elevation change, many sweepers and tight turns.

I have a list of a few Colorado E39 M5 folks, and I'll try to reach out to each of you through a PM as I'm sure not everyone frequents this sub forum and some folks may not even read this before the drive. If you know of any E39 M5 guys, please reach out to them and open up the invitation. I don't want to exclude anyone but would like to keep it pretty focused on M5's if possible.

Also, if this date doesn't work for a few of you guys, then throw out some other dates that may jive with everyone's schedule a bit better.

Here is a link to the relative starting point, zoom out a few times and you'll get a better idea of the map route:

If you have any questions, email me directly at chadaclark4@msn.com and I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Looking forward to it!

Meet and Drive

Hello,
I am interested...... let me know if it happens.

#9 ·
Still looking good for the drive in two weeks.
2k, Ronnie is welcome to join! I've seen his work and it's fantastic! Maybe he could get a few shots of the GTG
Tenmile, make it happen :) and invite who ever you'd like.
Paul, surely any in-law would understand the need for an extended grocery run that morning no?
Blown, employees get sick all the time, even on Saturdays :) If not, maybe we could arrange the next GTG for a Sunday?
BigMatt- it's happening, see you there!

Keep up the recruiting. I haven't heard from Kelley or Randy Ray yet, anyone have their email addresses?

Hey guys, the sun is finally shining and the weather looks like it will hold for tomorrow's drive.
Again, invite whoever you'd like. Whether there are 2 or 10 of us, the Beast is calling for some action.

Feel free to call me with any questions, directions, running late, etc.

I'm 50/50 right now- I just got home from a business trip but I think I can potentially make it. Do you have any other takers? I might try to convince my cousin to tag along- he's a professional photographer so we could get some good shots.

Have you thought about taking Rte 7 from Lyons up to Allenspark to jump on the P2P? More twisties and avoids the potentially slow traffic of Hwy 34.

Thanks for the invite Chad! Sure would be nice to be able to RESPOND to PMs but I guess I have another 10 posts before I can do that. I definitely want to get to know some of the other M5 owners in the area. As for Saturday (tomorrow) I don't know if I'll make it as my M is in the shop getting new thrust arms which became new thrust arms and steering nipples and whatnot. I should have it back tonight but you never know.

If all works out I'll see the crew at Amante in the morn, otherwise some other time.
Cheers,
-Cori

Cool, glad we have a few of you making it tomorrow. If this gtg doesn't work for some of you, no worries, there are bound to be a few more throughout the summer and we can always change the route, time, etc to accomodate other's schedules. Cori, if you can find a ride to Amante Coffee in the AM, you're welcome to ride along with me.

Bring whoever you'd like. I'm running solo tomorrow but Paul was considering bringing his two(of three) kids strapped into the back with 5 point harnesses and helmets :) As far as wrap up time, I'd say we'll easily be back in Boulder by 11:00AM. Whoever wants to stick around after that I'm sure we could do lunch if your schedule allows. I'll see those of you in the AM at Amante Coffee!

Thanks Chad

Chad,
Thanks for directing this little meet and greet today. I hope we can do this again!!!
I would also like everyone know that I am involved in a cruise on June 18 for the Havana Street B.I.D. the link is below. This cruise is a great time and very family oriented (so bring your family). Last year we had over 6000 cars from hot rods to junkers, a poker run and many many other things. So anyone interested in partisipating let me know. We will meet in the parking lot of Colorado's Pro Gym 1961 S. Havana St. at 2:30 and then proceed to the festivities.

Thanks for coming out guys(and gals!) I know it was early and quite a drive for most of you. The snow made the drive a bit more interesting. There were 5 cars total, 3 TiSi and 2 Jet Black. Pretty cool to see that kind of caravan weaving through the canyon. Further convinced the E39 M5 is still one of the best looking and sounding cars on the road! Afterwards I had to follow Cris's car for an extra couple miles just to listen to the muffler delete mod. SO much throatier than my Dinan cans. What's it like inside the car Cris? Mack, Matt, Kevin, Cris, Max and the wive(s)/girls, great meeting you! Let's do it again soon. Matt, I'll keep your June 18th drive on the radar. Post some pictures if you guys have 'em!

It was awesome to meet you all and what a great ride it was with snow, rain, dirt, mud, falling rocks, Boulder County Sheriff, slow-*** Ford Ranger, and a towed Honda Accord.

Matt - Sounds like a plan; will be confirming as the 18th gets closer.

Chad - Quite nice overall. Had it for a few months and no complains from my fiancee. It's surprising how much sound deadening we have inside the cabin. Noticed just a small bit of drone at a certain speed and gear... remedy? Step on it!

Hey guys -- that was a fun meet! Nice to meet some fellow E39 M5 owners.

Here's the Valentine One hardwire link for whoever it was that was interested: Modifications I've Made to My Car Very simple to do and frees up your power port and shuts off the detector when ignition is off.

For the radio-iPod adapter guy (max?) - here is the new version of the DICE adapter I put in my M5 last year eas - 714.369.8524 | DICE - Silverline DUO iPod Integration Kit for e39 5-Series (Trunk Interface) Very simple installation -- they even made a full walk-thru Youtube video. Plugs in where your CD changer is (takes place of, so no more CD player) and you just run a pre-protective wrapped cord up to your center console to hook up to your iPod. Your radio & steering wheel controls work to control the iPod and the artist/song display on the text lines under your gauges. The adapter still allows you to use the iPod as normal (which is a huge plus for me -- far easier to find songs, etc that way). Depending on what audio setup you have, it may require the extra $80 digital unit (mine did). Best of all the sound quality is immensely improved!

Here's the headers I'm getting in the next couple weeks for my beast! Who's gonna come over and help me install them? Free beer! ;)

Can't wait to see the 'pro' photos!

Ill lend you a hand, let me know when!

Good times. Was glad to get back down to Boulder where the roads weren't slick. I'll get Max to post some of his photos when he gets them to me.

Kevin- That link says : 1997-2003 e39 5 Series Sedan & Touring (excluding M5). I know it's because of the DSP adapter but it still made me laugh. Let me know when the headers come in and if I'm around I can potentially lend a hand.

Matt- Send us all a reminder for the event, but it sounds like a few of us might try and make an appearance.

Chad- Thanks for the motivation to get us all out!

Haha whoops. Yeah the correct one is the DICE Silverline Pro but I don't see it on there anymore. It was about the same price. Hmm.
