Well, I'm from the beautiful and scenic J.C. (yeah, right). But you appear to kind of be in the middle. Maybe a Saturday morning we could meet at IHOP or someplace in Topeka and have breakfast?

Yeah, Ron. That'd be fine by me. I think anything good starts small. Eventually, perhaps we could get more and more 5'ers together. let me know what you're thinking. Also, how old are you? Would you be bringing a lady friend with you? That way, if I brought my girlfriend, they could hang out and talk.

I'm pushing 64 y/o. I'd probably be by myself as my wife and I own/operate Kansas' largest pet boarding/grooming/retail sales business, or so I've been told. My wife spends most of her productive life at the business and I'm usually out doing other supportive things for the business. But on Saturday I'd most likely be by myself as the wife would refuse to drag herself out of the bed in a reasonable hour, yet she still gets up and goes to work by 10:00 a.m. We've been in business for about 27 years now, and the business has been so demanding on our time, we hardly have anytime to ourselves. We were lucky to have been able to fly into Ft. Lauderdale about 3 months ago and bought the M5, then driving to the keys and stayed there for about 3 nights, then she flew back to Ahhhhhhhh, Kansas, and I drove back.

Ted, by the way, it appears you work as a realtor. Do you know anyone who wants to buy 44 acres of interstate frontage property, on an exit/entrance ramp, for commercial purposes? I'm ready to retire and move to the keys.

Yeah, Ron. I'm a Realtor. Where's your property located? As far as meeting up goes, if you'd like to meet up after the holidays, I would definitely be up for it. Have you always been a BMW fan, or is it a new hobby for you?

I've always loved sport(y) cars. I used to have an MG Midget, then a new MGB. I've had several Porsche cars (911T Targa and a 944 S2 Cabriolet). Of course, there were interminglings with Fords, Chevy's trucks (which I still have), vans, etc. But I've always been a car nut and have read car magazines since I was a kid. I started reading on the BMW cars, went to Sunflower in Topeka, and test drove a BMW. Not sure what it was (1994), but it was different, precise, focused, a real drivers car. I read more and decided to buy one of the first-year E36 M3 Luxury cars, in December 1994, and I still have it. I bought a couple new BMW bikes (still have them), a 2000 R-1150GS, and a 2002 K-1200LTC. I've put over 125K on my M3, and it still runs like it did when it was new. It's never sat a night outside, or driven in the snow, or intentionally driven in the rain. I kind of got the bug several months ago to buy something (like THAT's a good reason?), and considered a used Mercedes Benz wagon, and considered an Audi A4 and A6 Avant (wagon). My son, who is in the USAF, sent me a email picture of an E39 M5 and I said "What was I thinking?", and started my search for an M5, and bought one. In my house garage sitting next to my red M3 is my 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra, sonic blue, and it is an absolute screamer, except I don't drive it anymore. I also have an F350 4x4, and a Mitsubishi Montero, Ltd., 4x4.

As far as my business, home and property goes, I own a valley right off of I-70, at exit 301.

Ron

Wow, Ron, you have and have had some awesome cars. My dad used to have an MG and currently has a 911 Targa. I've had 4 BMW's now, and I can say I'm definitely going to be a "lifer" with these cars. My Fiance and I just bought her first BMW, which is an E39 Touring. Talk about an awesome car! Anyway, sometime soon I'll try and post some pics of my cars up. We'll plan something right after the holidays. Maybe we can get Bimmer Grunt back in here somehow...

Sounds good. I was in Topeka this morning, shopping at Sears and visited Sunflower for a battery for my M3. It was an unexpected, unplanned trip. Looks like I'll be going back to Topeka on Monday to pick up some things I ordered from Sears. I'll be driving either my F-350 or my son's F250.

I'm all about it. I'm probably parking the beast for the next few months and driving the jeep or something. I don't plan to drain fluids or anything though so if we get some nice weather. I'm down. I don't mind driving a bit. Let me know.

Hey, BG.

We'll plan for something after the holidays when the weather is nice. I'm sure it'll be a pretty good time. There are a few M5's and P-cars around here, and a couple GTR's too... Maybe I can get a hold of them somehow. I used to have a jeep Grand Cherokee for the winter, but I ended up giving that to my younger brother... Jeeps are the best winter vehicle in my opinion. What kind of Jeep are you runnin around in?
