Brainerd International Raceway Run

My second time ever on a track in my 2001 M5. First time I was terrified. Much more comfortable this year. I put on Pilot Super Sports - that made a HUGE difference. I love that this car can run so strong on a course and you can drive it 4 hours back home and take the family out to dinner.

Here is a link to the GoPro.

I put up a few consistent 2:04s on this session.

Looks like fun - thanks for sharing! What group was this with?

It's been a few years since I've driven the Donneybrooke layout. That front straight is a lot of fun on a sunny day - you happen to note what your top speed was before T1 turn-in?

We have a group of people that are trying to get there every year. It is one of the HDPE days. In our group of friends we have a E46 M3 convertible with nice exhaust, a nicely dialed in Subaru WRX, new Mustang GT, real nice BMW Z4, and a modified Mini Cooper. We hope to add a 1967 Pro Touring Camaro next year - he didn't quite have the car done in time.

I scrubbed a bit of speed off the straight so going into T1 I was around 125/130. I know I could have got some more out of it, but I got spooked when all four wheels felt like they wanted to slide. This was because the tire heat brought the pressure too high. Once I bled some off it was much better, but it was in my head at that point.

T1 & T2 can be very intimidating. T2 especially since things can go from "pretty good" to "real bad" pretty quickly.

Yep - T2 is nuts. First year there I missed my inside apex and ran out of road at 120 mph on the outside before corner 3. Stayed calm and saved it and still had room to get on the brakes before corner 3. Wish I had video of that one.
