Test of performance in 997 Turbo S

Hi guys,

The PerformanceBox was brought along on the vacation in Germany resulting in some interesting performance measurements for the Porsche. All measurements were done with 25 kg of luggage, full tank and two passengers weighing 160 kg combined. Temperature was around 22 degrees Celsius.

0 - 100 km/h was done in 3.7 seconds in Sport Plus (no launch control)

Combining the 0 - 100 km/h acceleration with another acceleration performed from 80 - 170 km/h results in a 0 - 160 km/h of 7.4 seconds - although the 80 - 170 km/h run was performed in Sport mode.

80 - 120 km/h was done in 1.9 seconds using either Sport or Sport Plus mode (can't remember which).

A launch control test was also performed but that resulted in a 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds.

My theory is that the road was a bit slippery (even though it was completely dry) as we had quite a bit of wheel spin in the beginning when using launc control. I'm positive that launch control was performed correctly.

To summarize:

0 - 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds without launch control
0 - 160 km/h in 7.4 seconds without launch control
80 - 120 km/h in 1.9 seconds

Official figures:

0 - 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds (using launch control presumably)
0 - 160 km/h in 7.1 seconds (using launch control presumably)
80 - 120 km/h in 2.0 seconds

I'm actually not sure which weight the official figures are listed for - but I think the performance figures obtained in our car were reasonable.

I just found your post. Have you done any more data logging of your 997 Turbo S? I would be curious how it performs without the passengers and luggage in cooler weather.

I did not see anyone replied to this, I thought it was a dead thread - sorry! I might be able to provide some more data in about a month when I come home from Australia, I'll see if we can do some runs without luggage and less gas.
