Big Gamble! Expected great rewards.
Hello, Thanks for adding me to this forum.
When one spends many decades wishing for a dream car and an opportunity arrives, One takes it!
This summer, saw an add for 08 M6, Convertible, 6 spd manual, 111 K miles, with "blown engine" advertised by our local dealer.
Went to see it, car is in beautiful condition. Engine started, revved to 3K rpms. Did not test drive.
Bought it!!!As is.
Got a car fax, and the car was treated well by previous 2 owners. Great service history.
A week after I purchased the car, the previous owner contacted me and gave me an original set of wheels, and original mufflers. I think the guy regrets trading it in to the dealer.....
Now the gamble part. I plan to replace the rod bearing my self. I am starting to get parts and diagnostic tools.
I have started to collect information from this forum to help organize what I need to do to get this beautiful machine running.
If anyone can refer me to any specific threads that cover DIY bearing replacements and and also more important, how to obtain, install and use IMPA ISTA diagnostic software.
I purchased a hard drive with ISTA/ IMPA and many other software from EBAY. Have not been able to get it installed. Seller is hard to respond.
Has anyone purchased a similar offer from ebay, and got it installed and working....
The hard work begins...
