Auto-leveling means the headlights have a motor that works in conjunction with the sensors on your suspension. They level from a 'center' that you set.
they still require leveling/aiming. The level - don't remember the exact degrees - up and down from a middle that you set and if your suspension sensors are broken, they will not level at all.

You want to check all those and make sure the pins are properly seated as well.

Makes sense, btw, I did check the front leveling sensor by disconnecting the arm from front lower control then manually moving arm up/down to see if headlight aim changes and they do in fact "correct" themselves so all is good there. I guess all I need to do is "center" the aim on a wall as you've instructed and be done with it, thanks.
