Mineís been lava-lamped for a couple of years now, Iíll be contacting you soon. Also, I had a lot of front end body work done after someone backed into my nose; after I got the car from the body shop I thought the side mirrors looked blue and dim (something I had never noticed before). I learned tonight in forums that the side mirrors are electrochromatic- presumably controlled by the interior rear view mirror? Might it just be an electrical connection (or two) that the body shop forgot to reconnect?

The side mirrors fade and get discolored over time. It's probably nothing electronic. The side mirrors can also be repaired but you will lose the heating function.

There is a DIY repair for the side mirrors posted here https://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...or-repair.html

When I went through check out on the site I was charged an additional $14 for shipping (minimum charge) has there been a price increase? Also the site doesn't generate any kind of feedback saying an order has been received. All I can tell is that PayPal took my credit card information and completed a charge. Is this normal or is the site having issues? I also see that the warranty is an additional $20 charge now.

Is this no longer the deal? I did contact Scott by email mentioning the board in advance.

"If your E39 M5 oval auto dimming mirror has stopped working or looks like a lava lamp I have good news, we can repair it for a fraction of the cost of a new mirror from the dealer and if it ever fails again we'll fix it for you for free for as long as you own your car.

Total cost including return shipping is $99. Please send me a PM or email [email protected] and mention the M5board."

ArizonaM5,

The original post for our mirror repair is 7 years old and we have had small incremental changes to the pricing over the years. The standard repair is still $99 and ground shipping is $15. We've been performing the repairs for 10 years now and while we have had no issues with any of our mirrors failing we have opted to offer a standard one year warranty and currently offer an optional lifetime warranty if someone plans to keep their car for an extended period and wants the peace of mind. You should have been directed to an order confirmation screen after payment and received a payment confirmation via email. Please feel free to email me directly at [email protected] if you need any more information.

Thank you!

Scott

My mirror is on the way. I did go through all 15 pages of the thread looking to see if the deal had changed. I don't fault you for the increase at all. The reason I asked was that some retailers do offer a little better deal to groups like the M5 board and I thought that might be the case here. I still think you have a great service and a great price.

I think you have some great products and wish you the best of success!
