I think I know what your talking about, I used an xacto knife or flat head and just separated the two trim pieces. Then I believe it's a 1/4 turn of the mirror and mirror comes off. Unplug the harness, reverse order to put back together.

Now that's what I'm talkin' bout! Hat tip to Scott and radar-mirror.com!

You can force it to dim with a light aimed into the front port or just by covering the rear port with a finger.

Scott repaired the mirror in my M3 nearly 5 years ago and it's still working perfectly. Highly recommended!

I had my mirror fixed last month as well and it was a pain to get those plastic surrounds snapped back together. I just had to make sure all the wires were out of the way and press them together really hard to get them to snap back together. It took a few tries...

Just got my mirror back from Scott. Works great! He repaired it and sent it back out the same day. Most of the down time for me was the shipping to and back. Would definitely highly recommend this repair!

Thanks Radar-Mirror.com

Hi all. Sometimes bumping an old thread is a good thing.

I just wanted to say that I am another happy customer. I had the dreaded bubble show up in my mirror a couple months before going to Timmayfest this year. I didn't really think about radar-mirror until I was reminded about it at the Fest.

Thanks Richard (Irish_M5)!!!

I sent my mirror in just before the July 4th holiday weekend and it was returned by the end of the week. Thanks Scott!

Mirror is installed and doing well.

Question for all those who have used Radar-mirror to repair the mirror....

Does the red light still work after the mirror repair? I mean the red light that flashed after you have locked the car using the remote...indicating the car security is armed...

Just wanted to make sure.

Scott, if you are still monitoring this thread, would appreciate your comments too...:-) Our 2000 M5 has the problem now and we are thinking of sending the mirror in for repairs to you.

Cheers.

Hi,
in answer to your question, the answer is YES! The red flashing light on the underside of your mirror will still work. I sent mine from Tasmania to Scott, and it made it there and back with no damage, and the repair is still fine some 4 -5 years later. It took less than two weeks for my mirror to travel some 32 000 km there and back ....
