E39 m5 exhaust upgrade

Hello everyone. I was thinking to install Magnum flow exhaust to my car e39 m5.

What do you think and how it sounds to these cars?
I have it installed in e36m3 supercharged sounds great.

Happy Easter!

What's the objective?

* Just a little more growl ? cut the cans off behind the rear axles and add some quality mufflers to the end [I did this, saved weight and still very quiet].
* Much more growl?? RMD [Rear Muffler Delete]. Replace rear mufflers with straight pipe and tips [More weight savings and now kinda loud but doesn't drone badly [I've never done this but I've heard it]]
* I want to sound like a chevy ! Remove rear mufflers and resonators. Straight pipe from the cat back.. Very loud .. even with mufflers, and very drony.
* I want 'Go-To-Jail' Loud : Remove the cats. Add headers and oversize pipe to the back. Good luck with that one

I just did RMD. Put the car on ramps. Hacksawed off mufflers right after differential. Removed mufflers. Made a heat shield out of an old license plate and siliconed in place with a few dabs to get air gap, only for passenger side pipe which is close to plastic “spare tire” well. Driving to decide if I like it or not, but so far love hearing V8 sound.

I'm a fan of the Dinan exhaust. Nice sound but not too loud. Gets progressively louder when you are on it but won't drive the neighbors crazy. Most people like it and it is usually viewed as a positive addition when you sell the car.

Has anyone tried an electronic exhaust cutout kit that lets you open and close the cutout from stock exhaust from inside the car?

I thought the same thing. Exhaust guy said not much room. You could fit after differential. I cut mine off there with a hacksaw and drove it like that for a while, which would be just like solenoid activated cutouts. Too loud.

i've got the eissenmann race exhaust on mine and i think its great! just right tone to it, nice deep grumble and no drone on long journeys! would definitely recommend it!

Hello Guys thanks for the great input. I went with the Dinan exhaust. Can’t wait to install it.
