I had a similar problem with mine. My radio would turn off every 3 minutes on its own. I had to turn it off and back on to get another 3 minutes going. I ended up buying a MKIV computer which was an upgrade from my MKII and it went away. Could be the computer or radio module. I did upgrade my unit to a 16:9 but I didn't need to replace radio module to fix the issue.

I would check the fuse first. Itís a green 30amp fuse in the trunk. Check the label, I know itís right below the middle ones

Is it only the FM reception or do you loose audio from all (Tape, CDC, AM, Navigation, Telephone)? If you are loosing all audio your radio is dying or dead already. If it is only the FM band, check that the radio is coded for the correct (e.g. US) frequency reception, via the radio service menu or INPS, NavCoder or PA Soft. If the radio is working and properly coded, check the antenna diversity, the antenna amp and the connection to the backlight FM antenna.
