M5 E39 PDC Sensors

Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some feedback on non-original sensors for the PDC system.

Trying to fix mine, as i'm missing all 4 front sensors. Previous owner replaced the bumper for a non-original and the sensors are not there.

Original ones are pricey.

Thanks for the feedback

I have several BMWs with PDC and I have purchased a few sensors on eBay to replace ones that have failed. A few were used OEM and a few were non-OEM. Turns out, the reason they fail is usually because the plug gasket seal leaks so if you buy used ones/ be SURE the gaskets are intact. I've had both OEM and non-OEM sesors installed for 2+ years now and none have failed.

Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Hodgepodge

There have been reports from the E46 community that some of the aftermarket PDC sensors will only work in the middle two locations and not work on the sides of the bumper. I don't know how widespread the problem is, but the sellers generally know if they have these issues (but don't always list it in the description). If you want to buy the cheap ones off eBay you may want to ask the seller if they will work in all locations.
