4:3 to 16:9 Nav Trim issue

I just recently upgraded my nav display to the 16:9 stock unit. Everything went as planned except for getting the nav trim piece in place.
I've tried a million different angles, but there doesn't seem to be enough clearance at the top portion to snap it in.

Anybody else had this problem with the trim/bezel??

I took the entire nav unit out, unplugged it, and tried placing the trim piece in and it fits, but really snug and had to put it in at an extreme angle by slipping in the top portion first then the bottom.

Suggestions? tips?

thanks.

I had the same issue and for me it turned out the trim was for a different model and not the E39. The e39 trim is thin top and bottom and the one I had was pretty thick and would not fit even though it wrapped perfectly around the actual Navigation unit. They used these Navi systems on the 7 series and X models so the trim is different. Hope that helps.
