Really interesting to discuss..
Koenigsegg knew the owner, there is no doubt about that.
But on the other side, why not sell to this dictators son? #039, #073, #080 #083 and so on.. Why stop it at dictator families? How have the buyer earned his money? Is general gangsters "allowed" to buy a Koenigsegg? If not, oups .. that was another handfull of owners gone! People who don't pay tax? People who punch others in the face for a profession? You can probably continue taking customers away until the market is gone.. Koenigsegg isn't supposed to be "political", politicians are..
But on the other side when I buy my coffee (or anything else) I want it to be "sustainable", a brand like Koenigsegg is part who buys it, and of course this hurts. But a market like this will always have this kind of customers. They can always buy a used Koenigsegg and what about service? Should they deny service, on for example #014 sold used to a Ben Ali (former Tunis dictator) family member? That would hurt the brand even more if some cars didn't get proper service?
Cynical? yes I know that's how I'm :^) If I don't make the dirty business someone else do, I just need to make something better out of it. When I was a university student there was always (under aged) kids asking if I could buy cigarettes (need to be 18 where I live). I always did. In those days they always wanted the small 10-packs. Before I gave them the pack I asked if I could take a cigarette, never a problem.. Opened the pack, took a cigarette, lit it and took another (or two) behind my ear. Then it wasn't that good a deal and you could tell by their body language when you handled them the "plundered" pack. Same thing with a 6-pack of beer, can I take one? Thanks, I'll just take one for my father/friend as well .. win-win+win, They got that feeling of being fooled and we all got cigarettes and beer.. I'm quite sure Koenigsegg pulled a few more cigarettes out of this pack than they would have done to any other customer, or kept a bit more of the change than expected, so to say .. it's after all business not politics ..
