Greetings fellow "M"enthusiasts!
I've just picked up an early 2005 E60 M5 my first BMW and I can't stop grinning! A pleasure to trundle around town in if not a little jerky and an absolute animal out on the back roads! I've been reading a lot about rod bearing failure in this and other forums and am not sure what to make of it all? That and what oil I should be running? Has anyone had any issues with their "M"? It's got 103k kms on the clock, am I in danger of ending up with a block full of scrap metal if I keep ringing its neck at redline? Any feed back would be well recieved!

2005 E60
Sepang Bronze
Stock (momentarily)

my V10 loved oil

took a quart maybe every 800 miles but I LOVED it. Just make sure it has a lot of the good stuff, I always used the stuff BMW supplied.

My '06 M6 was wonderful. My '13 M6 is clearly a better car but I haven't been able to get as emotionally attached to it, maybe because it is too civilized.
