Slave Cylinder Bleeding

Hello, I just put a new slave cylinder in and from what Im reading I need to bleed the system. Looks like I need some sort of special software? I have a snap scan tool but don't see anything where I can activate anything on the trans. Do I need software, can a snap on scanner work, can it be manually bled, if I need software how do I go about getting it? Thanks for helping a guy out!
