Central armrest phone adapter ~ options to remove or change ?

The phone mount bracket in my central armrest is old and useless to me. Has anyone removed (to get more space) or successfully changed this phone adapter ?

thanks dan.

Correction, it was part #10 from the the above diagram. Part number 51-16-9-206-734. It was about $30.

Garage
I just did the same thing last weekend. Nice having a little more space in there.
