Looking for an M6 convertible

Newbee here, sorry if I am being obtuse.... I am looking at a 2007 M6 with 38,000 miles on the clock. I am a aerospace engineer, a licensed aircraft mechanic/inspector and have always performed my own maintenance on all of my vehicles, including engine rebuilds, etc. Just a little background so you don't think I am a complete rube. Given all of that, I know enough about these cars to know I don;t know enough about these cars to make an informed decision. So, I sent the car to a local BMW specialty shop and they told me it did a couple of weird things - the differential appeared to bind on hard turns and the clutch disengaged and allowed the car to roll backwards when driving up a small incline into their shop; the latter happened twice or three times, which they said means the clutch is just about shot. They also found these codes:
TRANSMISSION MANAGEMENT (EGS/SMG)
520A STEERING ANGLE SIGNAL FAULTY
4FA0 CLUTCH (ACTIVATION, POSITION DEVIATION)

According to this shop, the 4FA0 code has been reset 5 or 6 times.

So, I looked at a couple of other M6's 2008, 2009, and they seemed to drive about the same to me. Can anyone on here,m with the small amount of info I have given you, tell me if the diagnosis is correct? The 2009 had the clutch position sensor changed on it - is it possible that is the same thing that is wrong with the 2007? That of course does not explain the clutch disengaging issue...

I have no reason NOT to trust the shop, other than that I have never dealt with them before and they are not local so no one else that I know has any experience with them either.

What I am getting from reading through this forum is that the SMG isn't as scary as it it sounds, unless something goes really bad internally; clutches, pumps, ensors, wiring harnesses are common issues not the end of the world.

Oh, the other thing he said was an issue with this car is that the suspension bushings on the LH side of the car were loose/worn out. Seems like way too little time on this car for suspension parts to be shot - and why only on one side of the car?

Any wisdom you guys may offer would be greatly appreciated.

The steering wheel angle sensor can cause all sorts of weird stuff to disengage and it is a common failure. Before I replaced mine, it would trigger the DSC light and brake light, also disengaging the brake hold feature that disallows the car from rolling at stops. The clutch should be fine at those miles unless the previous owner beat the crap out of it. If you're looking for a well sorted my vert, let me know as my 08 is for sale.

My car doesn't meet your criteria (65k mi) but it is a silver convertible with the two tone interior parchment w/ wood grain partial dash.
The engine was completely refit with the BE bearing set and the vanos system was flushed (You technically cannot flush it so you understand what I had to do and how much that cost)
Also the SMG was just refit with a high performance clutch but not the twin disc 720ft lb unit b/c too many people were complaining that it grabbed so hard that it would be very abrupt and clunky.
Since the car is under 500t lbs I put a high performance equivalent to the OEM design (ECS) which withstands 570ft lbs. or pounds feet.. if you're from the UK.

Let me know if you'd be interested in this bullet proof worry free vehicle. AZ title summers only in a non-winter state.

I cannot STAND captcha especially the ones that give you nine volleys of photo arrays... GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about this??? If you get flooded, ban the IP!!!! DERP!!!!! SO LAZY.
