E60 Angel Eyes Upgrade Options?

Old topic Im sure, so excuse the dumb question...

... just wondering, do you have to go with something like lux angel eye kits or other $200 bulb kits to get white angel eyes in your headlights?
Could you not get a bright white LED replacement bulb or something? Or is it because those would throw errors codes?

Sorry, probably a dumb question. Thanks.

I like the look of these angel eyes but have no idea what they are... looks crisp, not too bright and no bleeding out... any ideas? I grabbed a screenshot from a vid I saw. Beautiful Car....

Those look custom. I think the closest bulb to look like that are LUX and even then they look lighter.

I can confirm that if you simply swap in a bright white LED (ebay style) it will give you the color you're after, but the inner-most ring will be brighter and the outer ring will be dimmer in the daylight. It looks good at night. You will get a error at startup, but you can either ignore it, or code it out (I haven't stumbled across the method to do this yet, but would welcome some instruction).
