Looking for some guidance here. I am planning to replace my clutch and flywheel as I am getting the following error:
2B61 - gearbox input speed sensor sensor: slipping clutch.

Is there anything else needing to be swapped out ? Is the slave cylinder and clutch sensor only applicable to SMG ? Also I am being quoted 9.5 hour job, is that accurate?

Thanks in advance

I just went through this exercise with my 6MT.

After 140,000 miles my clutch went out and went with a Bimmer World Clutch Masters FX350 clutch with their lightweight single mass steel flywheel. If you use a dual mass flywheel, it will be plug and play. The single mass requires a larger throw out bearing, which they are now supplying — thanks to me.

https://www.bimmerworld.com/Clutch-M...M8-HDFF-D.html

I’m about 250 miles into the 500 mile break-in period. So far...I’m loving it. The FX350 is a little more aggressive, coupled with the SM FW. It does chatter, but a little chatter is expected with this set up. An OEM DM FW wouldn’t chatter.

I was going to start a full thread, after my break-in.

Any reason you went with after market vs. OEM ? Did you change your slave cylinder and other items posted above ?

I have to ask, why would any chatter be acceptable?

Garage
When my clutch goes I've been eyeing a spec setup if nothing but price. 1800 for clutch and flywheel directly from them maybe cheaper getting it somewhere else.

My car is making a little more power than stock and spends time at the track.

Yes, I replaced everything as wear items.

A lightweight flywheel will chatter when your clutch pedal is depressed, it’s normal. My chatter is nominal and you can barely hear it, but it is there, in the background.

The heavy OEM steel DM FW will absorb much of the driveline noise and vibrations.
