Is there a site that tells you which company manufactured various Genuine BMW components?

This is probably a long shot but I was hoping that there might be a site out there where you could plug in a part number (Genuine BMW) and it would give you information about who manufactured that part for BMW. Reason is that I prefer Genuine BMW parts but if you can get the part from the same manufacturer with just different packaging, it would save a lot of money. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You just tell aloud what every one here is dreaming of...
I doubt there is or will be such a site someday, otherwise all car manufacturers will go straight to chapter 11. They are making huge money on spares, so they will probably fight very hard to make sure such site never exist.

However, if you are interrested in some suppliers references you may go and fetch to traditional renowned automotive suppliers and with some digging you will find the maker references for some items. It is a very long process though. Moreover it is even more difficult to find some references on the market as the car makers BMW or others, do have exclusive bargaining conditions for some items with their suppliers who are not allowed to distribute any of the covered items out of the dealer network. It depends mainly on who owns the pattend.

Just one example : the spark plugs are NGK brand and did exist before BMW picked it up for the S85. The pattend is owned by NGK in full. Therefore you can find it easily out of the dealership at cheaper cost.
Same with Bremi ignition coils, Bosch injection valves, Mahler filters and so.
