Engine failure after rod bearing change, how many?

I was wondering how many people have experienced engine failure after their rod bearings were replaced preventively? If you have (or haven't but have replaced your bearings) which bearings did you use and how many miles are on them now if they are still running?

I am just trying to see if replacing the rod bearings is a safe enough action to take, or does the problem really come down to the crank being to soft? I know Troy Jeup has a company harden the crankshafts on his rebuilt motors and I don't think he has had a failure yet.

I couldn't find any threads asking about this so sorry if this has been discussed before.

I have not herd of any engine failure in this part of the world after rob bearing replacement.

But then, since ours is an extremely hot climate, the S85s tend to live longer here.
