K&N Typhoon Intake Kit

Just curious if anyone is using the K&N Typhoon Intake Kit? Half the price of the AFE and fractions compared to Dinan. I have used both K&N and AFE over the years but is there really a $500 difference between the two? OK, I admit I do like the look of the blue filters.

I wanted the intake roar of an aftermarket intake, was not really after additional horsepower, but did not want any CELs either. As a designer and engineer, I was smitten with the Evolve intake's design, construction, and performance. However, I also wanted to spend funds on maintenance and a Corsa section 3.

After a lot of research on this forum, I purchased a used but restored (new filters & hardware) K&N kit from a fellow board member. The parts were in excellent condition, the installation instructions on K&N's site were clear and concise, and the sound was excellent! However, the CEL that my research indicated some owners experienced started two days after installation. More research revealed this thread:

I contacted K&N, and the new, updated part arrived in less than a week free of charge. The CEL went away after a day of driving, never to return.

Does it produce more horsepower? Some say yes, other no. The quality is good, the filters easy to service, and the roar intoxicating.

For the slightly more than $300 I spent, I am VERY happy!
